... a rather fast river down lots of rapids. You lie prone on a small board and use your feet for propulsion and steering. What can I say except Peter enjoyed it.

On our last night in Pucon we had our third Sushi and burger and retired to be woken at 2 by barking. It sounded like every dog in town. I got up to see what was going on and the volcano had a big red glow over the crater from the lava. Did the dogs think something was going to happen? Nothing did.

Many people travel to it for hikes to the lakes and waterfalls that it's home to, but on horseback, we were fortunate to not only be able to cover more distance and see more of these ...

... climb with them, but the weather was still pretty bad. The route we planned to cycle was all about the scenery, but the clouds were down low over the mountains. The girl in the office then suggested we could go to the hot springs at Menet˙e instead, we would get transport and free entry. The hot springs tour was leaving at 11am so we ran back to the hostel to grab our togs and towels, and back to the office again.

... reviews nor anyone I've spoken to in the hostels gave me any indication of just how challenging and technical this climb could be. It's certainly not for the faint-hearted. Maybe they just got a better day. I've since read the TripAdvisor reviews and one woman says the final 200m climb at 60% gradient was tougher than childbirth. I can hardly talk but I'd wager it is a close run thing. This was a seriously tough climb for me, near vertical at points and averaging ...
