Iguassu Falls - most amazing site ever

We arrived into Foz really early in the morning after an overnight bus trip from Bonito - thankfully we just had a mini bus for us & the mini bus had a DVD player so we were able to watch movies through the night - the only thing is that it wasnt the most comfy on the mini bus so we didnt really sleep that much. Thankfully our rooms were ready when we arrived so after breaky we all went to bed for a few hours then met at 1pm to go see the Falls from the Brazilian side.

Spectacular Views

... br><br>The Lower Trail takes you to the the bottom of several of the waterfalls, which is a much more impressive experience. Seeing water fall away from you into the mist from the top is nice, but seeing it coming at you from below, with the spray in your face (and all over you) is very dramatic. One location in particular, at the closest point to the main flow, is situated so that you get the full effect of wind generated by the tumbling currents, and it can get quite strong ...

Big water here we come!

... border town of Foz do Iguacu. We`ve found the buses brilliant in South America - clean, efficient and comfortable - and we arrived feeling pretty good despite spending the equivalent of a flight from London to New Zealand in a lazy-e-boy. We decided to spend the rest of the day in Foz at the bird sanctuary. Now Renee and I could never be described as keen ornithologists, but we love a good chance to oogle at a Toucan or two, and this didn`t disappoint. Having massive ...

... train ride to get into the main falls. The trains play the gorgeous (and often copied) soundtrack from the film, The Mission. If you have not seen this 1980´s film staring Jeremy Irons and Robert Deniro about the Jesuits and the Guarani in Colonial South America, do yourself the favor and rent it. I showed it several years to my students, and may feel inspired to show it again in the near future. The waterfalls are prominently featured and the cinematography is stunning ...
