We had a walk around Mont Louis, another fortified town of Vauban. The fort is still in use as a training centre for French commandos. We saw some in their red berets along the wall.
Thursday 22nd May
We are heading to France today but first a trip to Cadeques and Portlligat where Dali lived for around 50 years. To look round his house required pre-booking but John asked on the off chance we may get in – not a chance.

... down on to the road the campsite was on and so followed this back, dodging the hundreds of bikers enjoying the thrill of the windy mountain road.
Sunday 18th May
The campsite proprietor makes homemade bread on Sundays and John bought some for breakfast and lunch. It was the most delicious bread I think I have ever tasted. It was a flat bread style topped with honey and roasted crushed almonds.
