We went along the Adriatic coast to Ravenna to see the mosaics in the 6th century Basilica of St. Appollinaris in Classe. In the afternoon, we arrived in Assisi to visit the massive 13th-century lower Basilica of St. Francis.

Back to the land of pay toilets. Don.t know why that bothers me so much but it does. It just doesn.t seem right. Anyway, we are now in Assisi. We got off the boat and it was raining, and then we had to take a detour to Assisi. the road was very narrow and hilly, It was a little tense for awhile. Saw St Francis ...

Next we decided to explore the surrounding village before entering the crowds above. Perugia is a beautiful midieval village and very well preserved. Incorporated into this ancient setting are some very modern things like an underground moving walkway, taking you through the mazez below the pallazo. On this day, there were special booths set up for children and chocolate vendors.

Hi Everyone!
This past weekend was the Perugia Chocolate Festival…It was amazing! Basically, I was in heaven. It was a chocolate lover’s paradise. We took a bus from Florence and arrived in Perugia by mid morning. It was a bitter day which gave me a perfect excuse to have some out of this world hot chocolate and churros. A bunch of my friends and I had lunch at a ...
... br>We had a traditional dinner consisting of foods from that region. I had a pasta followed by the most sumptuous lamb. And Licia had the same. We took a stroll through the charming village and then drove back to our village for the night.
It was quite cold but with the fresh air and quiet, I got a great night's sleep.
... the pool but the second day we went back into Perugia and had a look around before catching a train to Assisi. The train station isn't in the centre of Perugia, so we had to catch a mini-metro to the top of the hill which gave us a great view before exploring the town on the way back down. We spent the afternoon in Assisi, a short train ride from Perugia.
Assisi is a major destination for millions of pilgrims due to its religious ...
... not the most powerful motorhome. Then the temperature guage started to climb. Sooner than you you can say "F---!" ("Fiat" that is) the rad boiled over, there were clouds of steam billowing around us and antifreeze barfing all over the road. I re-stated the thing, and dragged it onto a pullout beside the road. More accurately, we were parked on a pile of garbage (consisting, for reasons unknown to me, mostly of sanitary pads and condom wrappers) (I'm not ...
Assisi, Umbria, Italy albertabrandts... some of the oldest fresco's in the world. My favorite place is the castle on the top of the hill - called Rocca Maggiore. Though it is in ruins, it does give you the best view of the area - and what a view it is. It is also another good workout. There are nice little shops all over, but just like Venice, just get a few blocks off the tourist street and you are all alone again with the locals.
Assisi, Umbria, Italy scoonpooh... moving them from place to place, so that the nearby towns wouldn't steal them before the basilica was built. Bones of saints were big business back then and really, you could stay that they have kept little Assisi on the map. The Basilica was started soon after he died, in 1228, and was made far more elaborately than he probably would have preferred. In fact, the tiny chapel outside of ...
Assisi, Italy thetembas... home. On Sunday, we went to an Irish pub which plays American sports to watch the Superbowl, but it was not quite the same as watching it in the states. First of all, the commentators were British (as the Brits apparently enjoy the Superbowl, and broadcast it on their TV stations), and the commercials were the same 2 repeated the whole time: Coors beer, and one for an Australian car. We left after half-time, at about 2:30 am, but it was just too late to stay ...
Assisi, Italy kdut... begin. Callie and I were supposed to have about an hour and 20 minutes to make our connecting flight to rome. No problem, right? WRONG... We had to circle around heathrow for about 20 minutes....finally they open up a gate and we are staring right at it but air traffic control as not cleared it so we can't pull up. We sit there for what seemed like an eternity and then somehow we got face to face with another ...
