Between courses Carlo would sit with us and discuss the economy (how 9/11 impacted Italy), his profession (woodworking and ceramics that he exports to America), and his extensive family who have lived in this region for centuries and various members have been mayors of Sorrento for past 40 years. As he talked, he kept pouring wine. We each drank about a liter of wine and Carlo guaranteed no headache. He ...

... to Sorrento and the Island of Carpi. Rubbing shoulders with the rich and want-a-be famous people. It was so busy and so hot and humid but well worth the trip. Again scenery and the shopping spectacular. Because of the humidity there is a haze over the ocean which means a lot of the island and coastline is not visible so you lose a lot of the beautiful blue Mediterranean water. Capri is again built into the cliffs and the drive from the port up ...
