I have been trying to get here for several years and this was gonna be the year. There was however one catch. Getting there required a tough 10 mile hike or some serious off roading in the jeep. ... there we drove to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We didn't have any specific plans, and the ranger at the visitor's center suggested we drive all the way through the park rather than around it. She seemed to be happy the road was open the entire way, so we took her advice.

I'm scared to death of heights, and driving through that park was somewhat terrifying. It was worth it, but not an experience I'd like to repeat!

... Gothic is a biological research laboratory in the Elk Mountains. Gothic was a neat town. Lots of research buildings and cabins. One store which sold ice cream and snacks.
