... to the parking lot and got on the road to Salzburg, Germany.

BTW, the Autobahn is amazing here! The rest stops are super clean, and many of them have a play area for the kids. We stopped at one of these along the way; it also had incredible views of the what our drive looked like most of the way. Now if I was only driving a vehicle that would actually go 200 kms/hour without shaking like a rattled aspen leaf :-(

    Auf wiedersehen,

... Very crowded but very worth it!

We decided to take the bus back down to the village, and OMG, what a ride! We had a Czech driver that thought he was a Formula 1 race car driver! Ainsley and I dubbed it the Fussen rollercoaster!! What a ride!

We headed back to our campground at the super luxurious Camping Hopfensee (pool, sauna, spa, tennis courts, giant game complex, lake, boats, etc) for an evening of Uno and Yahtzee!

A short walk & we boarded our buggy for a ride through the woods (1hr). So peaceful & a nice change from walking, walking, walking. We arrived at a little settlement where our afternoon tea was awaiting with coffee ...

... was a lot bigger than Linderhof, but was not as gaudy. He was known as the "Swan King", and you definitely saw why in this castle. There were swans made out of porcelain, sewn onto the drapes, and even swan door handles. He definitely made his love of swans apparent. The details in his castles are remarkable. This castle actually had running water, a toilet that flushed and the first telephone in Germany. It was pretty ...

Today was Courtney's birthday and "Castle Day": Our day trip over the Alps and into Fussen, Germany. During the drive, we stayed on the Austrian side of the Alps stopping along the way to snap some photos and made our way to Neuschwanstein Castle. We took the hike up the hill to the castle rather than the bus or carriages and after the tour inside we walked over to the famous bridge, called Marienbrucke, for the "money" ...
