So we pretty much stayed the night then flew out the next morning - that part was really good! Except for when we were in ****** Iraklio airport and all the power went out. Nobody so much as batted an eyelid. Typical.

... deck overlooking the harbor and old Venetian walls, as well as the Mt. Idi mountains. Not shabby - we even get a couple of chaises. Of course we won't actually be spending much time lounging around the hotel because we have to see the Minoans.

We went off in search of food and found a quiet taverna - crushed fresh tomatoes and olive oil on a baked brown bread; greek tomato, feta, pepper, and olive salad; and ...

We had decided to go to Knossos on our last full day (Friday) as it is close to Iraklio where Chris and Milly will fly from on Friday night. But it made sense to take the last day in a more leisurely fashion and visit the Minoan palace of Knossos on Thursday. So we did.

After a brisk drive through the usual nightmare traffic and narrow streets, and our usual lunch, this time just across the road from the palace, we entered the grounds. The entry fee is €6 ...

This campsite is in a wonderful little oasis directly on the beach, in fact surrounded by quiet unspoilt beaches. You can sit at the bar or restaurant and watch the world go by or just listen to the waves crashing on the rocks. When the sun goes down you can retire to the bar after a very tasy meal of moussaka or a wonderful mixed grill with very good prices !! and join the other campers or the locals and be adventurous and take the Raki's or Ouzo's ...

... especially now that I am listening to Ave Maria on my iPod - the song I want to be married on, It makes me feel so calm, so peaceful. There are no words.

Just finished reading Portraits by Cynthia Freeman. Makes me feel even more grateful for my family. I must be one of the luckiest girls around to have a family who love and support me.

Went out to dinner last night. Nicky & Graham had given us a lovely card which us a great trip and £40! for us to spend so that we at least are able to go to dinner once - so that's what we did. We walked down to town. It's a pretty place build around teh bay with here and there a fisher's boat resting in the sea.
