      ... are still remains of the wall used to keep out Romanians. When the Saxons ruled, Romanians weren't allowed to own property inside the city wall, so they settled outside. Apparently Ekaterina's Gate is where they were allowed to come through, but it was only certain times and they had to pay a fee. Imagine that! That is the one gate still intact.       ... and it was honestly so much fun!!! We counted down in Romanian and then the fireworks and singing only got more insane hahaha. It was such an incredible night, and so different to what we're used to for New Years with the weather and traditional singing and dancing! Today we slept right in as we only got to bed at 2am- and then started packing and planning our weekend in Rome! Tomorrow morning ...

After dinner we had to wait until late to go down to the square so we drank wine, ate popcorn, ate a whole box of chocolates, and watched Parenthood. We went down at around 11 and watched some local singers perform traditional Romanian music while the crowd got together and danced in circles.       Sorry I haven't posted for a few days - Sunday and Monday were both pretty routine. Today was so amazing! I woke up to Char singing happy birthday which was so funny and then she made me amazing orange and cinnamon French toast for breakfast.
