Ode to the ferry fairy

... that used to do cruises in the northern waters. It is way past its former life but much like 'Miss Havisham' in ‘Great Expectations’ hangs onto its past.

Tickets:
We arrive in the morning and are able to purchase tickets for the ferry across the Gulf of Aqaba in the late afternoon.

Departure procedure:
We only wait about two hours before being allowed to drive onto the ferry and move up the passenger areas.

Getting wet in Corfu

Corfu was surprisingly warm today, around the mid 70s, which was warm enough for us to spend some time at the Aqualand water park. I've never been to a larger water park and we make is just in time before they closed for the winter. Me and my buddies played around until it began to get cool towards the late afternoon.

This morning we visited the ...

Cruzin'

Hello Friends!!!

I'm torn between it being a relief and a disappointment that I now speak English freely among all the other English-speaking folks. (I'm on the cruise.) While there are over 40 countries represented by visitors, America absolutely took the cake by almost triple that of any other country. I also don't know whether I'm proud of that fact or embarrassed by it. You might say that I'm going through a patriotic self-crisis.

The cruise has been fan ...

Cruising the Mediterranean Part 1

... was Ryan’s laughter. Robyn’s donkey would wait for Olivia and Mitchell’s to catch up and then promptly take off, never allowing them to get in front. When stopping twice to wait for them, it relieved itself of a very smelly load, once nearly getting Olivia on her knee. The shrieking was deafening. It was wonderful entertainment and we all laughed until it hurt. Bundled into taxi (4 of us squashed in the back with no seat belts ...

The Boat to Italy

... It was nice to see Katy and Sarah they are both lovely girls and really fun. We got on the boat in the pouring rain it was more like a cargo ship than a cruise boat so when we got onto the place where we thought the seats would be imagine our suprise not airline seats at all but just seats like in the pub seats. This is where we would be spending the evening it was an overnight boat and should take 8 hours I was not impressed that I would be spending the evening ...

A great summer.

There is a town north of Corfu and it's really cool, but it's a village in some way.Though, I did visit the Corfu town and I must say it is AMAZING. All those fortresses and fancy resturants and bars were a total hit! Everybody was so relaxed, people aren't that stressed at all. I ...

Corfu!!

... in, took a shot of Ouzo dyed a color as a welcome hat from the Pink Palace as it happened to be Diogo's birthday. And finally, we showered for the first time in 4 days. I barely survived - without question, one of the most grueling experiences of my metro-sexual life. All in all, the experience was actually beneficial in some ways. Next we ate breakfast, and hit the beach. Do not ...

Corfu Sailing

... stories of drunken sailors, before swimming (a little more zig-zaggedly) back to the Mafalda II to sleep. That's the life. Our comrades were Richard and Ollie from Chester, a dynamic father and son duo with dinghy experience and were pretty chuffed to be on a 39 footer! The sunsets were long and the skies blue - an experience way above expectations. Now were are "Day Skippers" - let loose on the high seas. (just need to learn how to park)

Villa life on a burning island

... and rolled it back to the villa, down on the lower slopes. We sat outside in the evening watching a pair of large green locust-type insects as they walked along our towels on the washing line. It wasn't until the next day that we noticed they had impregnated the material with a number of eggs, each similar in size and form to a grain of brown rice.

We visited a monastery one hot afternoon. The Moni Pantokratora stands on the summit of the mountain at 906m ...
