... I had a very severe sunburn. I went back to the hostel with Philip and one of my friends I made in Rio came to Buzios as well and we went grocery shopping. I wanted to used the Caqui fruit and so we made a salad and Caqui sauce on salmon on the patio of the hostel. Delicious! We had drinks later at this restaurant that had a samba show all evening! ... Despite my fall...I have gotten better at 'scootering' and even drove home in some torrential rain last week with no problems. I just gotta keep an eye out for the ******* bad drivers. My parents surprised me with the news that they were coming to visit me. Back in January they had said they were going to come down...but it just didn't happen. Mom doesn't travel well and 10 hours in a plane would just be too much for her. Well, I was told by Dad that they would ...

... it hadn't been raining...there were some nice pool-side tables for lounging and a bar right next to them. Shortly before midnight...we all crossed the street and went to the beach. It is customary in Brazil for people to dip their feet in the ocean while bringing in the New Year. It's like washing away the old year and bringing in a clean slate for the new year. Well, as cool as it was...the water was bloody cold, the sand was all sticky, the rain ruined my hair...but ...
