By 4:30pm the whole sunset process is done and we went for some city sightseeing, christmas trees and decos are all around already, nice lights there.

Finally arrived at Yan Tai at 6ish pm..Quickly checkin to a chain hotel, it's just RMB188 per night, superbly cheap. Can't expect lux settings, but good and neat enough for a quick stay.

Unfortunately we were a bit too late to visit the brewery, so we just went for dinner straight away. In the evening we took a bus to Su Ru's sister's house in the suburbs, where I spent the night with the family. The sister and her husband live in a very elegant apartment and I even had my own room and ...
Qingdao, Shandong, China caro86The last day in China. The last day of the port before the last country. It's getting more and more bittersweet. But not worrying about it yet. Not yet. We woke up after sleeping restlessly in our fairly uncomfortable dorm beds. I had had such high hopes, after the boards we'd slept on in the hotel in Beijing. It had looked comfortable and soft, but we were sleeping on the box springs. But that didn't stop me from absolutely loving the hostel experience. I got in the ...
Qingdao, China hayesbk... all the signs were "brought to you in part by American Express", and the star bucks in the heart of the city. I have seen more star bucks on this voyage then I ever have back home. Trying to escape the star bucks we finally meet up with the rest of our group and went to the palaces in the center of the city. We played in the bamboo and took pictures in giant pots on the outskirts of the city. Chinese tourists were everywhere and every few steps I took I had to stop and wait for ...

Considering it was a 19hr journey, it passed pretty fast. Had quite an entertaining evening learning Chinese card-games with some kids in the next compartment, and teaching them western card-games. Great practice for learning counting by the way. We didn't have to wait long in Qingdao for ...
