    ZERMATT TO LONDON

A travel blog entry by nancya on Oct 08, 2014

... the time we got to baggage to get our bag it was alone and an announcement was broadcast that unclaimed bags would be destroyed. By the time we leave there is the longest line-up to get train tickets. The ticket seller is particularly unhelpful. Actually all the train personnel were decidedly unwilling to help. Result we end up on the wrong train and need to travel by ...

... their yellow fall colours. The rivers and lakes are coloured by glacial flour and a milky turquoise. The buildings have slate roofs often with orange lichen growing on them and some of the buildings are perched on stilts with flat slate rocks which are to keep the mice out apparently. Later we visit the Matterhorn museum and learn more about the climbers and the way of life of the people of Zermatt. It will be sad to leave ...

We have three trains with transfer times of around 5 minutes in between so ...

My next move was to Noordwijk via Leiden by train. My dutch friend Rene and his partner Sharon welcomed me into their home (which has just been built & was flash as!) for ...

... the driver dropped us to begin the next portion of our hike to the Cabane Du Mont Fort. So we took a train from there to Sembrancher and then had to switch to yet another train to take us into Le Chable. Whew! What a day! Already it is nearly noon and we have been going and going since 10:30.....after all of that we needed to take a break, and so we walked into Le Chable for a delightful lunch at the cafe in the center of town. Now fortified we were ready to tackle ...
