Ostend, Belguim was a quick 2 night stopover on our way to Amsterdam.
It had a huge beach and a large esplanade with some cool orange art features.
It was empty of people and would be one of those places that come alive in summer.
We did a day trip to the nearby gorgeous city of Bruges.
This is a cool city centred around a couple of big plazas, lots of canals and pretty photo
Woke up to another sunny day ...managed to get the kids moving by 10:30 this time. Breakfast at Prestige Pastierre for waffles (rated #1 spot) but kids say it was disappointing. Eggs were good but all way overpriced.
Rented our bicycles for the day and headed through the cobbled streets to the outskirts of town looking for a park to get in a work out. Headed out to Damme about 6.8km..it was a very pretty ride..big ...
... originated in Germany around 1400 -1500's, a local author in the 1800's adjusted the story line a bit with relevant issues to Belgium (like Winnie the Pooh there was more meaning to the tales and they were not originally for children per see). From what I can gather the illustrations that are most known came from these versions, not 100% sure on that though.
Thought I may find herrings in Damme as they have a herring market ...
... on the road for half an hour and it cleared up.We will probably stay here for 2 or 3 nights. then we will be going back into France and stay at the La Chamaire park for a couple of nights before we have to board the ferry back to Dover. So here we are in Brugge, washing done again and ready to go into Brugge. We will let you know if it is everything you said it is Graham. am sure it is.

... of the Flemish Stew that Jordan and Christine had raved about. It was all very very good. If you're starting to get the idea that a trip to Belgium is all about eating and drinking then you're on the right track. We then made our way over to the Belfry tower which is one of the main landmarks and of course plays an important roll in the movie "In Brugge" if you've ever seen it.
