    ... a breeze coming towards us but the flow on the Spui was not a problem. We only saw one commercial barge as we went along the others being yachts, cruisers or ferry boats. There was a lot of work going on along the bank side with diggers and lorries and tank track lorries moving earth and silt into drying out mounds. Isi said they looked like big mole hills. No doubt the diggings will be used somewhere else in the Netherlands. ...

    ... the flavor! He said it half jokingly but left no doubt in my mind that he would not be bringing me coffee with my dessert. When the other younger waiter came by, I shared with him my incredulity at the other waiter's comment and he said he would have said the same!     Well here I am. In the middle of the English Channel. On a ginormous boat. In a small but lovely cabin some 8 or so floors from the decks below, where there is a sign-written van with a titchy car shoehorned inside it.     ... is good.

    Highlight has to be Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, we will never ever forget the welcoming people and the stunning countryside. So many special times.

    Russia is vast and diverse, generally the people were unsmiling and gruff but underneath they helped when they were asked. To be honest, outside the cities life is harsh so it's not a surprise they don't smile much. I suppose if any country made me feel unsafe ...
