So now as I write this we are in Fougeres. It's been another sunny day though not as hot as the previous days. We set off as soon after breakfast as we could, mindful of the kms ahead and my cold had worsened over night. Being Sunday everywhere was incredibly quiet. ... wind chill factor as we raced down the road near the long hill we had ridden up yesterday. Suddenly we were in a beautiful tiny town, bathed in sun but still chilly and adorned with stone cottages and flowering baskets. ... I barely got through. However once on the pitch I discovered that the water tap was not compatible with my hose pipe and so I had to struggle back off the pitch and find a tap I could use else where. And I paid extra for this privilege!

At last I could settle down with a glass of wine and my mosquito bites and I was having a good scratch when I realised that it wasn't a bite that was itching but a tick, firmly attached to the back of my arm. ...

Sundays in France are usually a lot quieter with supermarkets closing early or even totally unless it is a big one. You do not see the Indian or Chinese owned superettes or 4711 as we called them. Life seems more traditional and it works for them. With a bit of adjustment back in expectations/and time for us 24x7 shoppers its not such a bad thing - you plan for it.
