... about determining who had the freshest liveliest langoustines,oysters and mussels. The blue lobsters were literally snapping and the shrimp wriggling and waving their antennae as they scrambled over piles of their brethren and we purchased a kilo of the pink crustaceans, and the mussels from Mont St Michel. Grabbing a couple of baguettes, more luscious desserts from the bakery we made a quick tour of stalls loaded with produce, shoes for 20 euros and fashionable shirts and dresses ...

A sleep-in until 8.30 stated the day , with the usual home made jams ,croissants , joghurt ,etc in the lovely walled garden, followed a very pleasant pursuit of the owners black Labrador which escaped just as we were leaving , the ******* . A sense of conscience made us chase the bloody dog , which thoroughly enjoyed the chase over a main road as far as the beach , anyway Ali caught him and the final return was being dragged home by the owner. ... a turn hosting and we are to be in line for next year.

We prepared a lunch for our guests and had the great good fortune to enjoy our meal outside where we chatted sipped wine, and indulged in oysters, grilled monkfish with a silky Beurre Blanc sauce courtesy of Picard, salad, a lovely Pays Basque cheese and a raspberry tart prepared by yours truly.

... hand I managed to make a lovely plum tart, with the fabulous ready made crust that you can purchase in any supermarket. I especially like the flaky puff pastry without any additives and of course lots of butter. I had to add some fresh peaches to the tarte because I did not have enough plums.
