... largely unfenced - no animals graze the stubble. I can only assume the corn and hay are for feeding small mobs of the limousin cattle around the farms over winter.

We have little trouble finding a park in the main street of Giverney. It is a good omen. Crowds are down today with only one tourist bus visible. The Monet Museum is closed for a one week changeover in their exhibition... a strange thing to be doing ...

... One hundred spirals steps up gives us a panoramic view of the town.

And just when I thought we were sussing out dinner options, JA spots an optometrist. She has already checked out two others while I explored the cathedral but she is a girl with a fetish for individualistic frames! They are the windows to her unique personality... The poor guy about to close shop has no idea of the whirlwind about to hit.

... other hand, am still struggling as a passenger on the 'wrong' side of the car going counterclockwise around roundabouts!... I am continually confusing my right and left now - something which never happens at home.

And what do we find at Les Andelys? MORE cute!

Tudor style houses, floodlit fort on the hill, river walks and a fine French cafe for dinner. What's more, the accommodation standards are back on track with a delightful room in a grand old home.

On Tuesday we travelled from the Vendee to the Loire valley a journey of 108 miles. We joined the camping and caravan club rally ay Vallee des Vignes 15 miles south west of Saumur. The weather was a pleasant 23 degrees. We were warmly greeted by the rally stewards who remembered us from two previous rallies. We were also greeted enthusiastically by the Mosquitos who bit us.
