After breakfast we walked to Grand Place (Grote Markt in Dutch), which is the central square in Brussels. The square is surround by lovely old buildings such as the Brussels Town Hall, and many other guildhalls.

... a quick rest. We'd ridden about 50 miles so far, and I was tiring. We were entering the hills in Belgium. More interesting to cycle, but also more fatiguing. It was getting quite steamy out, so a brief rain shower was a welcome relief from the muggy weather. We finally reached the outskirts of Brussels and had to make our way through the clogged and congested streets into the center of the city.
