We were only able to visit a couple (Porto seems to close for 2 hours during lunch) before catching our evening flight out, but we are glad to have tried some new and very interesting kinds of port. Thank you Portugal, we will be back to see more.

Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal europapart123We drove to Madelana about 8 kilometers from Porto. As we got near Jessica decided that she was no longer going to be our sat nav floozie and left us in the lurch in a narrow cobbled street. A kind passerby volunteered to accompany us out of difficulty but there was no room in the car. Where upon a passing motorist stopped and offered to lead us to the camp site. Our meals were : a tuna salad (a can of tuna, unrippened tomatoes and lettuce) and pork (a peice of pork, rice and french fries.) Long story short we were more then enthusiastic to get on the road in the morning to leave Porto behind

Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal ddoumani... if I had remembered to pack some form of electronic entertainment. Guimaraes is a World Heritage listed town and is full of beautiful old buildings, mainly churches but also some medieval castles and towers. We strolled around the town, choosing a charming restaurant called Santiago for lunch. Guimaraes also has a cable car that takes you to the park called Penha at the top of the mountain overlooking the town. We looked at our town map and headed off for the 20 ...
