... and took the time for a walk around while there. Arriving at Mont Saint Michel is interesting. For some reason, I thought there was a village on the shore opposite the island. There isn't what is there is a giant car park, some hotels, an information centre and shuttle buses to take people to the island which is about 3kms away. We can see it from the car park and it is an incredible sight. Google some images to get the idea: it's a huge ...

This is also a UNESCO world heritage site.  We had lunch together, said our goodbyes to Celine's parents and Valentin, and ...

... enjoyed a lovely afternoon playing on the beach. However the highlight was a scrumptous afternoon tea of banana splits and chocolate crepes. Yum!

A fantastic time was had on the beach building sandcastles and then trying to race the fast flowing incoming tide as well as watching the crazy French kids going for a dip in the very cold ocean. Well, it was cold for us but as we are in the middle of summer it was obviously not ...

... Centre on the mainland. You do have to pay for parking which cost 12 euro for the day but when you consider your transfers are free, then it is not that bad a value for money. We decided to take the bus over to the island and take the horse and carriage back. To save the hassle of turning the buses around at each end they have been built with steering wheels at both ends, so all the driver has to do when he stops on ...
