... because we did not understand their map. When we booked in i asked about getting to Mont St Michael the receptionist told us there was only one bus a day and it did not return untill after our train was scheduled to leave to Paris tomorrow..another dissapointment. We could not book in untill 4:00 so we left our bags in the luggage room and walked along the beach to the old part of town, which was an ...
... the abbey there isn’t a whole lot to see at Mont St. Michel, it’s very touristy. We really lucked out with the weather this past weekend, it rained a little when we were walking around, but it definitely poured when we were driving. Someone was watching out for us.
Saint-Malo, Brittany, France liz.swindFamed as one of the best preserved medieval towns in France or so says the Lonely Planet, the old town seemed like it had been swallowed by the new. We had our first crepe and enjoyed it as we wandered through the old cobbled stone streets which became more and more rewarding. We stumbled upon the local young un's hang out which was the city walls. The views looked down onto ...
Dinan, Brittany, France darrenhough74Moules, Moules, Moules eveywhere. As we drove towards our next desination the road was littered with stalls of mussels and oysters, infact this region produces 4,000 tonnes of oysters annually...guess what is on the menu for lunch! 1kg mussels and 1/2 dozen oysters for the princely sum of 6 Euro. Can't say we are missing ...
Cancale, Brittany, France darrenhough74... 12 years old. Back at Scooby we watched the stars and bid goodnight to the glorious spot lit Mont.
Mist and cloud greeted us this morning and so our hopes of getting a few sunrise photos of the Mont were dashed. Morning also bought the hordes of tourists and opening of all the tacky tourist shops. The over commercialisation of this site was akin to turning on the ugly lights at the disco! The ambiance so different from last nights reconnaissance mission.
... blustery & raining a lot of the time), so while I could appreciate the beach's beauty, I also somewhat resented it for taunting me so.
The old city, known as Intra Muros (within the walls), is set out on a point at the end of the long beach, between the marina and port and the rest of the town. Lots of narrow streets filled with bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, street artists and musicians.
I loved the architecture here ...
At 14:00 p.m. we arrive at Mont-Saint-Michel, the rocky tidal island situated one kilometer off the country's north coast, approximately on the borderline between Normandy(Normandie) and Brittany(Bretagne). The place is very beautiful cause its abbey on the top ...
