    Day 19 - Wednesday, 24th September, 2014

We left Le Cap D'Adge at around 11am and headed towards Perpignan which is the last large city in Southern France on the Mediterranean Coast before Spain.

The weather was a great improvement on what it had the previous evening. The sun was beginning to break through the clouds and the …

Off to the coast this morning. The winds yesterday blew in some cloud which meant that the temperature was slightly lower. We went to St Cyprien first of all. It was like Southsea - gift shops, swimwear shops, restaurants and bars. The beach was ok, but not entrancing enough to stay. We moved up the coast to Canetti Plage. This was a much wilder ...

Another hot and sunny day. We left the 'car park' to move further up the coast. The landscape changes to a more tropical feel. Palm trees and flat countryside is the new scenery. We have decided to go to an aire at Latour-bas-Elne. It is a fabulous aire. It's situated behind a camping-car and accessory dealers. They also store caravans and camping-cars for owners who don't have space at their homes. It has security gates which lock between 9pm and 8 am. Just like a campsite, without the ...

Leaving earlier than normal, we made our way south towards the Spanish border. The Pyranees got closer. The landscape changed. Much less vegetation. Pine trees that are typical of the region and we entered the area for Fitou wine. Sat nav took us up a tiny lane and by the time I decided 'no', we were stuck. So Smartie had to be disconnected - single track road - obviously someone ...

    Laissac to Peyrepetuse

... The road was narrow and windy and up and down. We had decided to go separately and that was th right decision. But the scenery was magnificent. We were in the Corbieres and heading into the Pyranees. The aire was fine. Relatively full. A good steak in the nearest restaurant and a late drink. Impossible to sleep - the night temps were heading up from 20 and it was hugely uncomfortable. Although it was hot, there were dark clouds and quite strong ...
