Awoke to a very bright beautiful pale blue light, what you might imagine to be a painters light and the sun sent a golden beam across the water of the lagoon. There were two men fishing with rods in the middle of the water, which at first sight did not seem unusual, until we realised they were standing!! This makes the water about 3/4 feet deep. We thought we would find the old town and followed the signs in, we did as it turned out choose a ...

... a sheltered lagoon as we can see houses opposite and to the right linking this side to that, is a bridge. We had a bit a a walk at lunch time to get our barings, walking by hundreds of boats (the marina holds 1,600). We came to a nice little bar to get out of the wind, although only a breeze compared to the Lizard. ... to be a very popular place for wind surfers and paddle boarding as the coast is almost like a lagoon here and you would think it very sheltered and safe, but it must get windy. We decide to have a stroll into near by Leucate about 850m and it is fairly straight forward really, with a few small shops cafes/restaurants and a bread shop for the morning, so we are all set. Time to walk back for a cup of tea and put away hats and scarves and to get out shirts and ...

To Auterive and this time we found the aire, right next to the river but over the bridge. We popped into the tourist office and they gave us a super 'circuit historique', a leaflet highlighting all the historic parts of the town. An excellent walk too with a surprisingly long history. Then on to Caranca Gorge again for the night of the 14th October. A rest day next day with barbecue, loads of sun and the short walk following the ...
