It was like stepping back in time, not like Zaanse Schans being set up for tourists, Edam really did have an old world charm about it. ... enjoyig tubs of delicious ice cream. Then we went and visited Edam’s oldest brick house. It was quite impressive with box beds although the spiral staircase was lethal!!

PS – John and Jean found this really querky garden next to the old sluis gates and the ornaments are made up of clogs, baths and buckets. Look closely and you will see buckets hangin at the top of the trees. So today’s title will be – baths, buckets and ...

... later we did a bus trip tonearby Volendam, Marken and Zaanse Schans, which was a bit disapointing, and I am no even going to show you any photos.We had done this tour 30 years ago, and I guess you shouldn't try to replicate experiences later.
In Zaanse they tried to sell us cheese, while not enough time to explore ...

... walking about the Damrack area, and a delightful book market.
When we picked up the van to set off in early afternoon, it promptly died again just as we backed out the driveway! Turned out it was the fuel pump.... so another 3 hour bike ride up some canals and into some beautiful park and residential area north of Amsterdam, while the fuel pump was fixed. Lucky we are discovering these problems within range of A ...

... we were looking at yesterday were a Friesland breed and very valuable, we were assured that the farmer would have expended every effort to rescue his horse! Later in the afternoon, I walked over to check on them and all were present and correct, some eating and some going in for the mutual grooming that horses do.

No book was delivered today, so the decision to stay was the right one. In terms of the fridge, it only used 7 amps overnight ...
