... to be discharged to the sea. Unfortunately the weather today was quite cold and windy, but it was still worthwhile to see it. On top of the dike is a four lane highway connecting two provinces, with vast amounts of water on either as you get to the middle of the trip, water is pretty much all you would see. We travelled a few kilometres along the dike and stopped where a few memorials where placed in recognition of those that helped in construction. Also ...

We have arrived at our last stop. It's a small campsite on the IJsselmeer shore, which is a huge area of water that's goes south to Amsterdam.The city is only about 15km by road so the motorbike can have another outing. Edam itself is small and pretty, a bit like Amsterdam in miniature.

... edams oldest brick built house which is now a museum, dated 1530. It was in fantastic condition with orignal beams and a floating cellar. There is a wooden house dating from 1530 and it is very surprising it has survived many fires in Edam, 2 of which were very large, and also legislation to change all wooden houses to stone in an effort to avoid the risk of fire.
