... The wind started to pick up and the kite boarders and wind surfers came out of the woodwork. I think that this must be one of the better areas to partake in wind sports as the wind is both strong and steady. After watching the kite boarders from the top of the main dyke for a while, we rode home along the front of the dyke for around 3 kms. ... we stopped off at a small village to buy some essentials such as alcohol and food. Once again one can only remark on the friendliness and helpfulness of the Dutch.

Apart from navigation confusion, the whole experience was great, as the countryside is stunningly beautiful, with meadows filled with cows and sheep and canals everywhere. The Dutch people are extremely neat and tidy. The houses are all very well maintained with picture book gardens filled with Rhododendrons in various colours. ...

On an aside, it must be noted that the Dutch men are big
people. Many are well over 6ft tall and broad as well. I’m sure that this is
where our rugby playing genes originated. The problem is that it appears that
they think the rest of the world’s men are similarly built, to such an extent
that the pissiors/ urinals in the men’s toilets are so high ...
