Day 2 of the competition is sunny but windy and cold. I accompany the boys to get some shots of the croquet, and to watch them play. It's a very pretty set of lawns at Woking, with a lovely clubhouse they share with the tennis club. There's a bar, and a cooked lunch for the players. I chat with a few other spectators, and watch them play, retreating inside as it gets colder and cloudier. Pete plays well in the morning, ...

    London

... London, who would have though!! Made our way through the airport and grabbed our bags, only to find Rob was missing a wheel off his new Samsonite case, that annoys me!! Anyway, we grabbed a cab (they look like traditional British cabs, funny looking things but quite roomy inside) and headed to our hotel, the Intercontinental. The one good thing is that getting through immigration here was relatively quick compared to the last time I was here. The queue was huge but it moved pretty fast. I thought we would have been ...

... Marisa acted like a tourist guide pointing out (not hard to see) The Albert Memorial and on my right was the The Royal Albert Hall. Wow, I thought. It's right there and I didn't even know it, and now here I am just looking like an idiot taking pictures of it with my iPhone. There were so many people walking around this park, every corner had energy and I liked it. We made our way round in a circle, losing the dog at one point when he continued to walk in one direction when ...

    Martians and Madness

... this town as first on the list in their efforts to wipe out humanity? However the town loves Martians, and has erected a large sculpture to commend them to the world. Woking is where I spent my teenage years, so a fine place for a messy reunion with some of the best friends I ever had.  We spent the afternoon at Shey Copse, where the girls and I went horse riding with Lisa Ellesley, Madeleine Scott (both maiden names) and Chris Barnes.   ...
