We left De Funiak Springs, Fl at 8:15 am. Drove on I-10 to I-295 and then I-95 to Palm Coast arriving home at 4:00 pm.
We had a great trip and look forward to seeing another part of our great country in a year or two.

Historical Traveler Reviews Oceanside Inn Daytona Beach
Oh, My, God!
My Husband and I stayed here for three nights while attending a friends wedding functions. On the first night, while lying in bed watching TV, I realized I was lying on something, jumped out of bed and flung the covers back. What I found was a whole (smashed) popcorn kernel and we found more kernels in the sheets. We don't eat popcorn, in fact we had not eaten anything in the room. Aside from our request for new sheets, the room was never cleaned. There was also quite a bit of trash in the hallways. On a good note, the breakfast was good and the breakfast staff very friendly. But we will not ever be back.
Great Stay
The accomidations were nice. The renovation made everything look like new. The tiki bar was great and the breakfast was super.
Hated it!
My husband and I found this hotel on one of the websites and needless to say, what we expected didn't compare to what we got! The hotel was HORRIBLE! It was dirty, old and trash was left in the hallways to add to the already unpleasant odor of the hotel. We had to request new bed sheets even though the maid had just changed ours because they were filthy. I used up a whole can of Lysol trying to disinfect. We were going to stay two nights, but could hardly stand one. Never again!!
Disgusting
I booked my room here through an online hotel service and let me just say that I left the hotel early and lost that money just to go to another hotel. Yes, there's free breakfast, but this hotel was so completely dirty. Breakfast is good if you even go to sleep in the dirty, hairy sheets after you've taken a shower that's full of hair in a bathtub that's not even sealed to the floor. If you stay here bring your own sheets, a flashlight for the parking lot, tons of socks for the dirty floor, and your own bathroom.....DISGUSTING!
Fine for the price 'Great Beach access'
Spent the weekend with two small boys. The check in was very easy with reservationson a Friday evening. Free parking for guests, which is great. The room 3rd floor of 9 floors was ocean view, however this hotel is enclosed in glass so there are no outdoors balconies. Found the interior corridors to be dark and not air conditioned and the room to be small. But it did appear clean. Ice machines are only on 3rd, 5th and 7th floors and my 3rd floor did not work. Told staff, but felt they really did not concern them. The free continental breakfast is nice eggs, bacon, grits and potatoes with coffee or juice with real glass plates and silverware. So for under 80.00 per night plus taxes, who can complain too much. The room was partially cleaned but no new soap or shampoo provided. Had to go to the lobby to get my own. So there is room for improvement. Be warned that you must pay an additional room safe fee for each night. None the less kids enjoyed the easy beach access and pool.
Great Place
I stayed at the Oceanside with my two children for six nites. I was not sure what to expect. The place was great. It was very very very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very pleasant also. There was a problem with our reservations though. We tried to add on two extra nites and kept being told to call back because the clerk was new and didn't know how to change it. Finally I was told to come in on the new arrival date that we would get a better ratea as walk-ins and there would be no problem with a vacancy. I explained that we didn't plan to arrive until late, and was still reasurred there wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived, there were no vacancies. And it being Easter weekend, we searched for a room for quite a long time. But otherwise, this place was good. It was quiet and well taken care of. I will be back.
Wonderful getaway
My husband and I went on our first vacation without the kids over christmas break! This hotel was excellent!! I can't wait to go again!
Great and friendly staff, and a wonderful location. The room was very clean, and right on the beach! This is BY FAR the best hotel we've stayed at in a very long time!!
Now A Winner
Nicely re furbished and very comfortable. Seems all-new. 25" TV was Nice. Super continental breakfast and coffee machine. Has intimate bar area, though no restaurant as of 11/2003. Well maintained and clean inside and out in an excellent location. Room was rather spacious with nice views, whether oceanview or oceanfront. Had full tinted-glass wall exposure with a modest 2ft. x2ft window which could be opened for ocean breeze and to hear sounds of the ocean. An extremely good bargain and want to return next year. There is an active "condo" sales office on-site, though no contact attempted. Hope it does not go completely condo.
Great Stay
The Oceanside in is a great place to stay. My boyfriend and I stayed there in October. It is very clean and comfortable. The location is EXCELLENT! I would go back!
The kids loved this dump
OK I haven't been there for a while, but have stayed there many times in the past. Yeah it's a dump, but it is in a great location, close to the center of daytona, near the mainstreet pier, the boardwalk, has a pool that was big enough for the kids to have a really good time, and I have always been able to find coupons, that made it cheap to stay. Even when I had money to stay someplace nicer, the kids always want to stay here, because of the location, I like the fishing from the Mainstreet Pier, so I don't argue.
