... as the first night was dry as a bone, whilst the second night was one of howling winds up to 60km/h and driving rain. Our economy tent is pentagonal in design, yet our air mattress is naturally rectagonal. This means when fully inflated the mattress pushes out the sides of the tent, which means when it rains or snows the tent gets wet at these points. So to overcome this we only semi inflated the mattress, folded it over and balanced ...
... driving, making it to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park by late afternoon and camping at the beautiful, spacious and wild, Marie Louise Campground. (While the camping fees charged by Canada’s Provincial Parks are slightly more than those of U.S. National Parks, the sites and facilities are of better quality and better maintained, in my opinion.)
The presence of the Sleeping Giant (a massive rock ...
Wow! Cold night!! Dad told us that it was only 45F at 7:00 when he got up to take a shower…yikes! I was quite comfortable all bundled in my bassinet, but mom and dad were a pinch frozen this morning! We started the day by going to a tourist trap where we thought we could use the internet to post a blog update, but their commador64 was out of service! We drove through a town called Wawa which for some ...
Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada matt~becca... wing! It was great to finally get off the plane and meet my parents and drive home with them. It is so quiet here and so snowy. Quite the departure from India, I must say. Thanks for taking this trip with me! In India: kms travelled by train: 6000 methods of transportation: car, autorickshaw, cycle rickshaw, train, bicycle, motorcycle
Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada amy_goes... I paid $1.509/L in Beardmore. That hurt. Their stupid little Snowman Mascot was little consolation. As we approached Sleeping Giant, we drove through this enormous gorge. These pics don't do it justice. Our site at Sleeping giant was ...
Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada jay.sewellThis morning, we slept in until 7:30. Yes, it's funny that I call that sleeping in! We woke to the sounds of barking, purring, mooing, quacking, and other such animal noises, interrupted by the giggles of Mireille and Dalia. Um, who's in charge here? Later, they said "I heard Noah's Ark broke down along the highway - did any of you hear those strange animal noises this morning?" As we crawled sleepily out of the tents, the sisters delighted us with the news that we were going to be ...
Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada monchemin... of moments like that - the in-between moments in which we aren't fulfilling our outlandish agenda, but rather breathing and living in exactly the same way we do at home - except instead, we're here with each other, because of those outlandish reasons, and we're perfectly content to be simply living and breathing here with each other instead of at home - these moments are my favorite of all. After some more driving we reached a quaint little city along Lake Superior. It was all ...

Thunder Bay (May, 27th, 2007) Originally I thought of going straight through Thunder Bay and seeing how far I could make it towards Sault Ste Marie. I changed my mind at the last moment due to weariness and another look at the attractions to offer plus there was also SUNSHINE here too (hadn't seen that in days!). One particular attraction caught my eye Chippewa Wildlife Park and campground on the shores of Lake Superior (at $18 per ...
