Woke this morning to find our efforts were wasted and I'd been eaten by Mosquitos - not happy! We then loaded to the van and set off across Texas. I get the front seat on this journey woo! ... is slim pickins'. Personally, I see why they think this bird was not a Pileated Woodpecker, but I don't think there's enough there to proclaim the return of a bird extinct for more than 6 decades.
We can always hope, though! I kept my eyes peeled for an Ivory Billed Woodpecker, but no dice. I'm sure if it hadn't been raining so hard....

When we began this trip we talked about honoring our last trip with my mother where she whined and pouted most of the way with a funny story about ice cream. Coming through mid-PA where there is nothing she decides ice cream would taste good. Not just any ice cream it had to be Whitehouse ice cream. I didn't even know what it was.

... of the thicket. I sat in a camp folding chair along the side of the RV, and just sat there for an hour quietly calling, "kitty..... here kitty". After a very long and lonely hour, out of the edge of the thorny blackberry bushes, came little kitty. We were so thankful she came back.... we love our little kitty. She slept on the foot of the bed the entire night. Oh yeah, about our dinner.....that didn't happen that night.
