... sitting there trying to make sense of everything. We ended up not getting much achieved this morning however I feel as if I have learned a lot. I often hear of sex trafficking and I've seen specials on television however to sit in a court room where it really happened and being involved in their lives brings it to a new level. I will need a little time to process everything since it is all so new to me! Well that is it for today.
... a little further along to an actual strip club. Now I'm not a prude but I have never experienced a strip club before. I had so many mixed emotions as I was sitting there that I could not express how I felt. There were less Americans however there were more then enough men to go around. After that we ended the night at a bar in Subic bay military base. This was probably the best place. It was on the beach and there were actual families eating and having a ...
Olongapo, Luzon, Philippines karey42... Ni(2) Cor(corinthians) shi(4) indicates 2Cor. chapter4 related to a verse, ".. treasure in earthen vessel". Senzin means saints in Japanese. We had a sweet time in the fellowhip of life which was very refreshing.
Not often we meet a person leaves you with sweet impression and today we met those kind of people by the Lord's arrangement. we will remember them and pray for them that we run the race together.
... took the taxi back to the Courtyard Inn. They dropped us off. Parousia gave us a present which was small figures of dolphins and elephants.
Then we went to Gerry's Grill we had a late lunch which was noddles and a chicken kebab.
Dad came home late.
We went to Gerry's Grill for dinner.
I and Michelle had spaghetti and pork BBQ. Dad found an ant in his rice. So he had to have new rice.
... to eat healthy foods. Rice is the most popular food served. They have a saying here that if it is not served with rice it is not a meal. So eating rice and an ulam (main dish) is necessary at every meal!
Besides my family and food life in the provinces was pretty slow. We had language class in the morning and technical class in the afternoon. There were 5 other peace corps volunteers in my language class and 10 other volunteers in my technical class ...
... after that, but nobody seemed very anxious to see where this all happened just a short while ago. Eventually I convinced them that they should go out to the house and I got into the back of a cruiser with two uniformed officers in the front and the intelligence officer in the back with me. I asked them to take me to the place where I found the first police officer (the one who drove me to the station) and they didn't know what I was talking ...
Olongapo, Philippines kimharaldroger... a very reasonable cooking fee. You can buy lobsters, many different fishes, different sized shrimps, scallops still in their shells, crabs, clams, oysters, mussels, squids, etc for dirt cheap. Our seafood feasts (we like the place so much we ate there twice!) cost less then usd$10-12/person all included. Similar quantities of seafood in the USA would cost >usd$50, and it doesn't include cooking!
Manila, Philippines jackc... huge mall had a large open area floor in the center where booths sold pirated handbags and DVDs and competed for my attention. But there were also shops and department stores and food courts just like American malls. More diversity in this mall, though. I walked by a Pizza Hut next to a barber shop next to a gun store. And every time you enter a commercial building or large store or even convenience stores, armed security ...
Manila, Philippines markimberlyUp before the sunrise and onto another Victory Liner bus, this time heading to Olongapo in Subic Bay. 6am was the best time to leave Baguio as the coach slugged through the cordilleras with the mist gently rising into the new day over the dewy rice terraces. The scenery was spectacular, some of the best sights i've ever seen on my travels. I would really recommend this trip be done in the morning as it offers a chance ...
