        ... those radial arms, or spread out along the 13 mile length of each arm. I.e. they can configure a telescope which is 3000 feet in diameter, or one with a 27 mile diameter.

        Today there were 8 or 9 in close proximity and the rest were spread out into the very far distance. But, taking the walking tour, I was able to walk right up to within 20 feet of one of the 94 foot tall, 80 foot across dishes and it was magical.

        We had breakfast in our hotel in Flagstaff this morning. This is going to be a driving day with a few stops of interest along the way. Our goal is to get to New Mexico.

        ... the meteorite was largely vaporized although some fragments have been found as much as two miles away in Canyon Diablo. the rock was shattered and the surface start of the desert was flipped and turned upside down. the explosion created a nuclear wind with wind speeds estimated as being up to 500 mph!! Sadly, we are unable to upload any images to either Facebook or this blog at the moment so you'll just have to take our word for it - stunning.

        ... a block off the main road, and lots of cute old fashion Southwestern buildings dotted the pedestrian friendly street.

        Eventually we headed back to the room and decided to go have some New Mexican cuisine at the Mexican diner next to the hotel called "El Camino". It was a very old school diner with a authentic Mexican twist, which I found fun, refreshing, and enjoyable. The food was quite yummy and I even saw a Tech ...
