... so wild and beautiful, the landscape and all the animals are just incredible. I'm hoping to bring home a Tasmanian Devil. (I really want a wombat, but I don't think one will fit in my carry-on.)

From Birmingham, we took a detour to visit the highest point in Alabama; Cheaha State Park. At 2,407 feet, this is high for Dixie. We left the full five figure altitudes long behind us in New Mexico.
