Driving to the Smokies
Earlyish start from the Holiday Inn for their light brekkie (in comparison to others we have had) and then on the road for the long drive.
Stopped off at Best buy for a camera for Carl and Nicole and then it was a longish drive to head to Sevierville via North Carolina, and quite a few rounds of the lyrics game (boys beat the girls) and had …

THe boys had an early start as we were designated washing people as the girls were getting up to go shopping.....so the boys went and did the washing and were back to the hotel in time to catch the girls in the hotel room reading the gossip pages on the internet (apparently the magazines were finished). So we got them moving down to the …
Day 22 - Gatlingburg - Tennessee
... shiny outfits and tricks performed on horseback and even a pig race! Hilarious night, but sadly no pics allowed, would have loved to share some of the outfits and images. Never mind I'm sure a quick google search by anyone interested will turn up some suitably corny pics. PS I saw a ground hog today! I thought they were just made up but apparently not, there's actually a mid winter ceremony just like the movie, who'd have thunk ...
Day 21 - Gatlinburg - Tennessee
... to pay the 50 cent fair with a $5 note he said "I can't ... I say I can't possibly change that" complete with cartoon character drawl, I nearly fell off my seat laughing. I'm sure he thought me quite odd. And the town itself is fantastic. If Nashville is the buckle this place could make up the rest of the belt all on its own. I passed one store called "God's Corner" only to cross the street and ...
About Halfway There
I've been alone in this car for eight hours Right now I'm wishing I didn't buy an aftermarket exhaust because after eight hours I can't hear at all. Right now I'm wishing I didn't eat that bean burrito fifty miles back, because we just passed the last rest stop for 100 miles. Right now I'm wishing I had packed something other than oatmeal cream pies and Mountain Dew for snacks. Speaking ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Days Inn Apple Valley Sevierville
Great Days Inn /Great Staff/Great Stay !
The first time that my husband and I traveled to Sevierville, TN was in January 2007 on a company buying trip. We had not made any advance hotel reservations knowing that we would find a hotel once we got to Sevierville.
We arrived on a Thursday in January and started looking for a hotel as soon as we arrived. We saw many, many hotels as this part of TN is a tourist location. My husband and I both saw "Days Inn Apple Valley" about the same time and knew through previous experience on other travel trips in different states that Days Inn is a trusted, clean, good hotel, well known name hotel to stay at---so we stopped and went inside to book a room for three days.
The Lobby was nice and clean (as we knew it would be) and the two gentlemen behind the front counter, Keith and Billy were absolutely wonderful, friendly, professional and helpful! They very easily got us registered and into a room that accommadated us very well. The room too was clean and with a great location for us as well.
My husband and I went back to the same Days Inn Apple Valley in Sevierville, TN in March 2007 for another three day buying trip. This time however, my husband called the hotel directly, spoke with Keith and made our reservations in advance!
We know a clean, friendly hotel when we see one and from now on would not think of staying anywhere other than with our friends Keith and Billy at Days Inn Apple Valley, Sevierville, TN !!
Absolutley Amazing!! -KB
Keith, Billy, and the rest of the hotel staff were absolutly amazing. They were great help to find where to go and what the best places to visit were. They made my stay in Tennessee much more enjoyable. The rooms were perfect and spacious and very comfortable during my stay. If i had a question they were alot of help in answering it. The location is perfect, close to fun and excitement and right next to the mall which is of walking distance away which was amazing. I will definatly be staying here in the future!!! :) KB
Excellent staff, very personable
Keith and the staff were very, very friendly and personable to me and my husband during our stay. We very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next trip.
Thank you, Joe & Movita
Awesome Hotel and People
My stay at this Days in in November was very pleasant. Keith and Billy were above the call of duty, and also very friendly. If i needed something they helped me with whatever, to make my stay more enjoyable. The room was very nice and clean. There complimentary breaskfast had a variety of good foods. Also the location was great! Only a few mins from Gatlinburg and the mall. It was nice that i keep busy and not have to drive far. Your in the middle of it all. It was a very pleasant stay.
Superior Service
Days Inn Sevierville, Tennessee was a wonderrful treat for an inexpensive price. Service was superior and staff was friendly! Beds were not very comfortable however, for $40 a night I will not complain. Property was close to outlet mall shopping and very appealing to the eye. Clean and convenient, I would definately recommmend to anyone visiting the area!
Good, Clean Hotel For the Price
This particular Days Inn (Days Inn Apple Valley in Sevierville) is a four-story motel with a small pool and continental breakfast. It is located on the Parkway at Sevierville's traffic light number 12.6. The breakfast (available 7:30am - 10am) during our stay consisted of Krispy Kreme donuts, various bagels, two types of cereal, toast, waffles, coffee, milk, and two types of juice. There was one outside elevator that serviced all four floors, but one elevator was enough for our stay. The two-bed nonsmoking room was clean, and it had a large tv, hairdryer, iron (with ironing board), and a small bathroom. The hotel staff was friendly. This particular hotel was close to the all of the Pigeon Forge and Sevierville attractions, although this is not a big accomplishment considering that all of the attractions are in a close proximity to each other. Also, this motel was half the price of a Pigeon Forge hotel that I stayed in during 2004, but this Days Inn was actually the nicer place to stay. I did not have any problems with this motel, and the maid service was good. The only regret that I have was that I made double occupancy reservations using the Days Inn website, but I found double-occupancy coupons at a Tennessee rest area for this motel with a cheaper walk-in rate. I would stay at this motel again.
Ok, not wonderful, check around first.
I have stayed at this hotel twice. The hotel needs major repairs and upgrades. It did not live up to my expectations. The front desk was not very welcoming. They had more of an "Oh its you" attitude.
My room was the same both times, nearly a year apart. The hotel needed to be painted outside the first time I stayed. It was worse the second. The elevator was dirty and didn't look as if anybody had cleaned it in a while.
Our room was allright though. It felt clean, not as clean as some I have stayed at. The beds were a little hard, but that was about it.
Outside of the less than friendly front desk, I guess my only other complaint was that the pool closed early.
The hotel is within walking distance of the trolley stop and several restaurants.
Ultimatley for the price I would stay here again. The hotel needs some upgrades but is a wonderful place to stay. Although I would check around first!
Good & Bad
This hotel was very basic. Somewhat-Good location. Great price, but now I know why. Most of the hotel met my standards but there was some bad things about this hotel which anyone could disagree with.
--Days Inn Website said Continental Breakfast, the hotel served juice, coffee and bagels.
--The elevator was the most slowest and hottest I have ever encountered in my whole life.
--The room doors were very stiff and hard to open, took 3 trys every time upon entrance/exit.
--Small and hard to move around in bathroom.
--Very small pool; bad location, not like implied on Days Inn website. Pool is more for kids then adults.
........there is more minor things but I think this is good enough.
Clean, basic
Clean, basic motel room on a strip where many a cheap room can be found. Only drawback: listed on website as providing breakfast, but only offers coffee, juice and donuts.
Clean and basic
Rooms were very clean but nothing fancy. Just a good clean basic room. However, one of the beds in our room was not stable and fell apart. I don't believe this is indictive of the whole hotel. Family next door to us had great beds. Staff was willing to solve the problem and was friendly.
