    ... and don't be in a hurry, but do expect to get great home made food. They use real roasted turkey in their hot turkey sandwiches. They have the best date squares and pies anywhere! And that's saying something in an area where pies are a staple of all community events.

    Marilyn and I are going to spend tomorrow visiting some of my old haunts on Saint Joseph Island and environs.

    The Soo KOA is another great enterprise. ...

    ... doing some laundry, we headed to the boardwalk by the river front to experience the festivities and grab supper. St Mary’s River has many locks on the seaway system from Lake Superior to Lakes Michigan and Huron.

    As it had been a few days since our last long walk, and it was a lovely evening, we headed back to the hotel on foot, a good 45min walk, stopping at a DQ for icecream!

    Got up, broke camp and headed east (down the same road that we took yesterday to the boat trip). Before we left Bob spoke to a couple from Red Deer who were headed west. They said the gas prices and mosquitos get better as you head east. Let's hope so - $4.189 and three mosquito bites on my feet!

    We are just past Munising and the last gas price I saw was $4.269! That's equivalent to $1.13 ...

    ... again. More beauty, more fall color, more wildlife. At some point, traffic in all 4 lanes (2 in each direction) suddenly braked as a family of 4 raccoons decided to cross the road... a mama and her 3 young coons... but the one in the rear got stage fright, as we all sat there and watched them... and he turned back, hesitantly... looking at us, looking at his family. You could tell he was torn, but his instinct told him danger, go back! We waited and he seemed pretty ...
