We got up pretty early and caught the bus up to Penn Station, from where the Greyhound was scheduled to leave for Boston at 9am. We weren't particularly looking forward to it, as we didn't really fancy being stuck on a bus for the whole morning. Things got off to a bad start at the Greyhound station when I saw a rather unnerving poster of a creature with the body of a man and the head of a greyhound, advertising the bus service. Then the driver, confused by my ticket, almost ripped it in half...
Salem, Massachusetts, United States huwwilliamsWe got up fairly early and called a taxi to take us to the train station, in order to catch a train into Boston. When the taxi arrived, we discovered that the driver (who looked like a cross between Big Boss Man and Jeremy from Airport) was also picking up another woman who was staying at the motel. She sat in the front, but kept turning round to talk to us, asking some really stupid questions about Britain. She was pretty rough, and had loads of cuts over her face like she'd been dragged dow...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States huwwilliamsOur plan for today was to check out of the motel, get the train to Boston, leave our luggage at the station, then spend the day in Boston before picking up our luggage and getting the overnight bus to Toronto. After getting the train into Boston first thing, the day got off to a cracking start at North Station when we encountered one of the city's many lunatics. Appearing normal at first, the ageing gent pointed us in the right direction of the platform that we needed to get to South Station,...

Boston, Massachusetts, United States juliemburnsSo I am finally back in beantown.. took the T home from the airport, the 10 minute walk in the leftover snow and cold was a big shocker after the heat of Asia.
Some shout-outs are in order:
~Air Asia for getting me around the region cheaply and effeiciently
~Xavier from France for exploring the wonders of Bangkok with me
~Raj, Naz and family in Kuala Lumpur for their hospitality and generosity in opening ...
... from each other and at least 2 or 3 visible at any one time in the city on different corners.
We ended the night walking about 2kms kicking a block of ice from the city center to home. We must have had at least 200 kicks each until Linda decided to kick it down a drain in the gutter.......and she calls herself a PE Teacher...........I think she needs to get back to school and practice all day so that she is prepared for the next snow city in Denver!
... C'arn the Celts.
TBC - Long night ahead!

Made it to Boston by 02:00 and then cabbed it to the hotel. I jsut told the driver to take me to the Garden and thats where we pulled up. Seen the sign and the hotel was right ...
loved the flight, and the hospitality of the BA business class experience. I even had a facial as I though it would be done by a dolly. Then some big gay guy came out to 'facial' me. I was petrified. I have to say that he did a really good job though!!
I REALLY made the most of the free champagne and wine on the flight too. Legs were a bit wobbly on my return to the good old US and A!
... left the beautiful inn by the sea and headed toward Salem. I have visited Salem once before but I couldn't wait to go back. Parts of the town are really pretty and all of the witchcraft and supernatural stuff keeps me interested. But my first stop once I got to Salem was the Blaney Street Wharf to board the Salem Ferry (about $20 roundtrip) for a trip into Boston. This was a super easy way to get right to downtown ...
Danvers, Massachusetts, United States jlbonnett... are on the wait-list. All we have to do now is to sit tight until the flight closes. We will then see if there are any empty seats. There are about 10 other people in the same situation as us. We are numbers 6 and 7 on the list. Fingers crossed and lots of Starbucks. The flight closes and the gate agent calls us all over and gives us our boarding passes. Simple as that. Just imagine our frustration when we count 20 empty seats after the ...
