    ... a better life. After the Second World War middle class travellers drove it for fun in their Chevys. Eventually Route 66 was bypassed by interstate highways and decommissioned in 1985. Most of it is still drive able in 2014 but we may need to seek out this old concrete highway which often runs parallel to the Interstate and take our time. We have three weeks to drive 2500 miles.     I left the house around 4:30 pm and traffic was not an issue but wow, the state police were out in force big time! I didn't dare go but maybe a few miles per hour over the posted speed limit. Counted 30 of the state boys in an 80 mile journey to the hotel.

We sat for about two more hours at least which entailed walking gate to gate and wandering through bookshops while listening and getting involved unintentionally with a large dollop of drama from one of my friends.
