DAY 2 - Biloxi MS
Today was another good day. Got on the road by 9:00 AM. Weather was not bad - mostly cloudy. Temperature dropped from 82 degrees yesterday to 51 degrees when we arrived at the Super 8 near Biloxi MS by 2:30 PM CST (gained an hour). Switching to winter clothes tomorrow. Nous voici au Mississipi à Biloxi. Il n'y a pas seulement à New Orleans que Katrina a fait des ravages. Ici aussi. Auparavant, il y avait des casinos flottants. Ils ont été détruits ou déplacés par l'ouragan. Michel était venu il y a 15 ans, et il ne reconnait pas les lieux. Ils ont construits de gros casinos sur la terre ferme. Sad sight
We hebben gisterenavond besloten om niet verder westwaarts te rijden. Misschien was het de pyjama en het petje van de vorige bewoner van onze motelkamer, die we in een van de kastjes vonden (de pyjama en het petje, niet de bewoner...) of de troosteloosheid van de plaatsjes en de mensen die we de laatste dagen zijn tegengekomen, maar 'enough is enough'.

The next morning we woke and ate breakfast and headed out to
explore what Biloxi has to offer during the day as we weren’t expected in NOLA
until 3pm. We found a quaint little art shop that displayed and sold art done
by local artists... I was in my element. $80 and a couple of hours of chatting
later, we headed back to the oyster house for lunch. We both ordered the voodoo
shrimp ...
Something had to go wrong...
... numerous times, we found ourselves at
Pepboys waiting for the tire change. Pepboys is like the US Kwikfit so you can
only imagine how riveting it was waiting there.
Finally we were all set to get back on the road properly and
at a real speed. We set the GPS to Biloxi and reflected on our time in Alabama
The Beautiful... Little did we know how much fun lay ahead on Biloxi’s strip
for two casino virgins like us...
