Today Josh competed at the Dawn of the Shred. He did OK. Of course I can quote many many pro skateboarders who also said, they lost their first competition as well. All I can say was Josh had the nervous jitters during his second run, and his knees kept giving out just before a trick.
The first run went fine! He did well and landed all of his signature tricks, except at the ...
First Landing State Park, Virginia, United States rickjosh... three years on the Bay, but we were able to raft our first night there. Dave reinstalled the jacklines on the boat in preparation for our ocean crossing. We stayed at Jackson Creek the following day due to strong winds from the south that were unfavorable for heading south to Norfolk. We would await a wind shift to the north arriving that evening. We broke up the raft in anticipation of the shifting and strong winds coming our way.

We left ...
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... his brother, and I hung out with him talking bout super advanced technology ****. He's pretty gifted when it comes to electronics and computers. We had a great time celebrating both Josh's Birthday on the 14th, and Brandon and Aaron's on the 22nd. Everyone was warm, and unpretentious. You cannot get more real with these people than anywhere we've been to so far. Vail, and Markie came and showed up at both times, along with ...
First Landing State Park, Virginia, United States rickjosh... something large was hooked up. It was a white marlin and I mean that fast it was hooked, to the boat, picture taken and release before anybody had even drawn to see who would take the first fish.

We quickly set the fishing order and it was "on" all day long as we caught white marlin after white marlin for many hours before ...
Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States onedodd... his old home where he grew up. It was just around the corner from the former mountain of trash. This was an interesting neighborhood. Josh was going through his flashbacks, I did this here, I did this there, my first this here, my first that there, he was going through his past, like it happened yesterday. It warms me up to see Josh happy, reliving his fragmented memories of his childhood in this big, quaint, town of Virginia Beach ...
First Landing State Park, Virginia, United States rickjoshWe spent September 13 on a day sail with guests John, Jim and Charlene, Wally and Michelle. We sailed through the North Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on N winds 10-15 kts, then sailed back via the south tunnel. We spotted a very impressive flock of rays along the way and enjoyed a nice lunch spread. Dave was happy to have plenty of helpers eager to take the helm and adjust sails.

We spent September 21 on a day sail with Dave's dad, Norma and brother ...
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... visited a nearby marina and toured a custom boat named Chanty. A gorgeous piece of work. On September 11 we motored to the North River on Mobjack for a change of scenery, admiring the homes on the river bank including that of Chanty’s owner. The following day we returned to Willoughby Harbor Marina in light NW wind and flew our new secondary spinnaker. The color combination is quite wild but the sail flies well!
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deuxStarted out early, around 8am. We took I-79 down into West Virginia, went through the mountains... and I mean up and down and around for hours on S curvy roads, then across Virginia on 64 and 264 right onto the beach. It was the scenic route, and well worth the extra time. It was beautiful the whole way.

Pulled up at The Four Sails Resort literally on Virginia Beach around dinner time. We were WOWed when we stepped into our 3rd floor condo by the great ...
