    ... of Shelby County started the restoration process. It is now used as a museum and community service building. The historic jail is the home of the C of C. both are on the National Register of Historic Places. Once again there are many historic houses and churches in Center.

    ... where we will stay until 31 Aug. At that time we will drive 175 miles into Santo, TX and will be staying at Coffee Creek RV Park until 7 Sept.

    Once we got all set up, we drove into Lufkin to go to Walmart (surprise, surprise!!). We needed a few things, but of course we got a few more things than we really needed, but then isn't that the way it always is?

    ... the town itself is almost as old as the USA, guess we couldn't have the original buildings.

    After walking around for a bit, we got back in the car and drove around looking at different
    buildings. By then it was time to head back "home" and get ready for dinner.

    For those keeping tabs of our stops, mark off Zavalla, Hanks Creek. As we were driving south on 59, a truck passed and a rock hit the windshield. It is only a 1/4 chip, but the cracks have already started. At this time we were getting close to the cut off for US 96, which would have taken us to Zavalla. So we stayed on US 59 and headed for Nacogdoches instead.
