Yet another set of quiet days. We headed in the right direction to skip construction traffic. Also, after some looking we managed to find a spot to stop for Southern Food (family here always goes for chains, this time I wanted to actually have some so we stopped BEFORE hand). Mary's Southern Kitchen, I think was the name. Very good, and very happy we stopped, also managed to get a lunch for the next day out of it (thanks to the amount of food).
... I felt like I had stepped back in time. There were no other houses, cars or people in sight only lots of lovely animals. The dog Deuce and goat came up to the verandah to greet us and Freddie was immediately entertained...thank God! The donkeys, horses, goats and sheep all came to the fence to be fed every evening. ... I crossed Blue Angels Blvd and passed the main gate for Pensacola Navel Air Station, home of the Blue Angels. I should have turned around and taken a picture. The main gate is painted the blue and gold colors of the Blue Angels. I kick myself now. Once past the roadblock the "fun" began. Ben took the lead because his GPS was protected from the rain and I had put mine in my waterproof saddlebag. The rain was heavy for several miles and I kept thinking (hoping) we would pop out of it and we'd have sunny skies for the rest of the day. Wrong again.
