Woke just before the 8.30 alarm - the clock in the room is out by about 15 minutes. Showered and down for $12 breakfast you could fall in love with. Cereal, coffee, juice, continental pastries, meats and cheese, fruit, yogurt, sausage, bacon, pancakes, french toast, scrambled egg and toast. When tax and service charge was added it was actually $15 …
Woke just before the 8.30 alarm. Coffee and Creole tomato for breakfast. Showered and packed and checked out just before 10. Joleen picked us up and drove us out to a Bijou where there could be alligators. We parked by a bridge and walked up to the water. I could see one big gator in the middle of the bijou. As we walked up more appeared until …
We'd booked a full day tour that included a city tour, a boat ride through Biscayne Bay and an airboat ride in the Everglades.
The city tour was first and was surprisingly good! We thought it would just be a short swing through the main touristy parts, but was a 2.5 hour tour through Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Little Havana, and other …
We slept in, then had breakfast in a lovely little cafe outside in the sun. We realised it was finally warm, so we went back to the hotel to change into summery clothes.
We walked along the beach and found a bar along South Beach with a balcony overlooking the street and beach/park. We people watched for a few hours, having nachos and …
We paid our bill, disembarked early, and got a shuttle to our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised - it was right next to the beach, and only 6 blocks north of the South Beach strip. We dropped our bags as it was too early to check in, then headed along to beach.
It turned out to be Art Deco weekend - much of Ocean Avenue was closed to …

If you're thinking of staying here... don't!
This hotel is a total DUMP! I stayed here with four friends in July 2004, we'd originally booked to stay here for 5 nights but ended up only staying for one! When we arrived one of our rooms hadn't even been cleaned, so were given the choice by the front desk staff of either staying a dirty room or moving to another one as the housekeeping staff had all left for the day... obviously we took the latter option. The new room had no balcony and over-looked a building site which started work at 7am the next morning! We asked to speak to the hotel manager at around 8pm, only to be told he wouldn't be in till the next morning and they had no night manager on duty. Some of the more worst aspects of the stay included;
One of my friend's bed sheets had a old blood stain on it.
Our TV ariel was hanging by a thread and the reception on the TV was non-exsistant.
Air-conditioning loud enough to wake the dead.
Broken cupboards and drawers.
We stayed out until after mid-night trying to find another alternative for the next day. Upon arriving back at our room, my friend finds a rather unwelcome extra guest in the guise of a huge cockroach on her bed headboard!
After a very uncomfortable night's sleep, we couldn't wait to get up and leave this hell hole. Upon checking out, we asked to speak to the manager again, and was told that we would have to wait as he was dealing with other guests... more complaints i assume! When he finally did turn up, and we presented him with the evidence of old blood on the sheets and a squashed cockroach on the headboard, he admitted that he wouldn't stay in some of the rooms himself! We managed to get a 75% refund of the cost of the 1 night we stayed at the 'hotel', and am pleased to say, we made a very fast exit and moved further up Collins Avenue to the much more plush, clean and luxurious Eden Roc Resort and Spa, which only cost an extra $45 a night!
So if you are thinking about staying at this Days Inn, i can only say to you, don't do it. You can get much better hotels for around the same price in South Beach... i can only wonder how this one manages to stay in business.
Budget hotel on the beach.
This hotel is okay if you are looking for a budget hotel on Miami Beach. My friend's room smelled like smoke even thought she requested non-smoking. We had a large deck overlooking the beach which made the whole thing worth it. The pool is actually pretty nice. The hotel is somewhat run-down but the location is good.
The pictures of this hotel are very misleading. This is an old and dirty hotel. Rooms were filthy and were not cleaned the entire time we stayed there. The carpet was stained. I do not recommend this hotel.
Location is the only thing saving the Days Inn here. The rooms are dirty and houskeeping made us feel we were completely putting them out by simply asking for towels that were never given to us in the first place. Even when they do clean the rooms our sheets were not fresh and the floors were never vacuumed. The windows in our room were stuck shut which gave us a complete lack of fresh air. The employees at the front desk were unbelievably rude and they seemed they could not get rid of us fast enough. We were never given a 'Do not disturb' sign in 4 days there. House keeping pounded on our door 3 times every morning starting promtly at 8:30 am even after we requested a do not disturb sign. The shower was like walking on a water-bed with old water somehow accumulating under the tub. Don't be fooled by the lounge/bar area. It's in the corner of the lobby and is useless. You will also be charged a fee every day for a tiny room safe which they do not tell you about upon check in. If I ever go back to South Beach I would pay a little more and stay somewhere where you weren't made to feel unwelcome by unhelpful, rude staff.
Not so bad!
We recently moved to this hotel from a real dive and we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean and did not have a mildewy smell, nor stale cigarette smell. It was basic, did not have any amenities such as coffee maker or frig, but was in a decent location, had a nice pool, and close access to the beach. Overall, a decent basic room. I did hear other guests grumbling about smelly rooms, though, so maybe we just got a good one.
Enjoyed my stay
I stayed at this hotel from 10/8-10/12/2004. The location is perfect, the only thing i did not like is the buffet is $10 and was small, but we went to the denny's up the street, which we were happy to find out they had carry out.
The rooms were clean, staff friendly, of course this is not a 4 star hotel. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but will not, since i prefer to stay in the lower numbers 10-18. Not to worry this hotel is fine.
Truly awful hotel
This could be a good hotel. It's in a good location and the foyer and pool area are pleasant enough.
Unfortunately, the hotel is extremely badly maintained. The rooms are in poor repair and smell badly of mould.
Cleaning services are pretty perfunctory. The windows were dirty, paint chipped and the bath grimy. Areas not in full view, such as behind the dresser were absolutely filthy.
Nasty hotel - avoid.
What a horriable exoerience we had at the Days Inn, we stayed 2 nights at the hotel, we arrrived checked inn went up to our room, the room wasn't cleaned the maid came and we waited outside the room for 10min, the bathroom light never worked they had someone come up to fix it twice and it still never worked. They room was dirty and smelled, and so did the hallways, I will never stay there again, or any Day's Inn for that matter
Avoid this scam of a hotel
This was the worst and sorryest experience i have ever had in my life with any hotel. First i made advance reservations online for an oceanfront room with a balcony, 2 double beds. smoking and a coffeemaker. I arrive at the hotel and they get done cleaning the rooms later then the 3pm check in time, then i check in and they give me the wrong room. The room had 2 double beds, no coffeemaker, no balcony and was not oceanfront. I went back to the checkin desk to tell them this was the wrong room, they looked in their computer at my reservations and told me no it wasnt that this is what i reserved. I have here at home the confirmation email which even states otherwise. So obviously being only on a 2 day vacation with my wife and I we wanted to have a nicer room then that and he said they didnt have any available, even though i had reservations, so we spent 2 hours walking the streets of downtown south beach miami looking a similar style room and couldnt find one so we finally came back and the manager lowered our rate down to $99 per night from the original 139 and gave us a side room with a balcony. This room didnt even have a coffeemaker. They told us to try back downstairs on sunday and maybe something like we wanted would become available. Finally at 3:30pm on sunday we got a new room, that was oceanfront but the balcony was a horrible mess and not at all private, room only had 1 queen bed, and the bathtub had to have repairs, 2 or 3 lightbulbs were blown out, the TV remote didnt work, and once they came up to replace all this we found out that the TV in this room didnt get all the channels it was supposed to, it was lacking about 6 or 7 channels that the other crappier room had. The next morning upon waking up i was in a hurry to check out obviously and the alarm clock in the room ended up being almost 2 hours fast after I had rushed thinking it was later than it was. This days inn totally destroyed almost my entire 2 day vacation. So badly that obviously not wanting to go home without salvaging some good from the vacation I ended up going down the street and finding a much more higher quality room at Best Western for a cheaper rate to stay 2 days longer than i ended to, basically i restarted my whole vacation. I stayed at this hotel because of triprewards and i thought that days inn was supposed to be one of the nicer hotel choices in the chain of hotels offered by triprewards however i have now since coming home cancelled all my reservations at other days inn's for the remainder of this year because of this. How and Why I could not have the right room type at the hotel when i made reservations, got a confirmation email, and even called the hotel 2 times prior to arrival to re-verify the reservations and room type just blows my mind. I know the manager lowered the rate to try and make me a little happier but when im already gonna spend 100 dollars per night on a hotel i really could care less if its 100 or 140 the cheaper rate doesnt ease my pain or frustration or fix my totally destroyed and ruined vacation, all it does is make my wallet feel 80 dollars total better, and if i really were worried about 80 dollars, id have no business in miami on vacation from raleigh, nc in the first place. ill never stay at another days inn again, and its very unlikely anyone else out of the other 15 or so people in my family who travel frequently will either as theyve had some bad experiences with other days inns and hearing my experience is definitely the tip of the apple for them too. Anyhow overal im a very frustrated days inn customer and with very very good reason.
Avoid this property!!!!
Stayed at this hotel from 28th to 31st december 2001.Its a dump!!!!There is much better value elswhere in south beach.Called twice from south africa to ensure we would have an ocean facing, non-smoking room and got neither.Staff were disinterested and unhelpful and only repeated ad nauseam "the hotel is full - nothing we can do"
The room stank, bath leaked and there was mould in the bathroom!tried to discuss all this with unresponsive staff!!
We cancelled our reservations at the other days inns we were due to stay at during our trip
