... and wait with an injured patient for an hour at Chesterfield, now pulled out minutes later, abandoning us poor little trainless waifs to our fates. No-one seemed to know which platform to go to or what to do, but when a train pulled in five minutes later we all climbed aboard anyway (very relieved to find it wasn't already packed so we'd be standing to Oxford) and sat some more.

But eventually we pulled out... back in the direction we'd come from. Thence ...

... an actual tavern for lunch. We went to the famous, hidden away turf tavern, which really does have turf growing on the roof. I will of course regale you with what I ate as per usual. I got lamb stew with butternut squash wedges. Absolute delicious hot food considering I was absolutely frozen in Oxford's overcast, damp, chilly willy cocoa pop weather.

... the sports cars and mustangs. An odd juxtaposition of young and old. Tons of people were out and about enjoying the grounds – obviously the thing to do on a lovely day in England.

We played rounders and then tootled off to see an interesting Andy Warhol exhibit of important Jews, with Sigmund Freud, Marx Brothers, Einstein, Gertrude Stein amongst others getting his colourful silk screen effects.

Well, I have spent nearly three months planning for a six month adventure, so I jolly well hope everything goes smoothly - fingers crossed! A little bit of advice....Do remember to get all your credit cards before you give up work to travel! You get a much worse deal without an official income.
