... and after setting up the tents we got straight on with cooking, although we were making cottage pie and Mabs and Jo didn't need my help so I played catch with Lexx for a bit. I then did some laundry, ate dinner and got changed into my onesie as it isn't cold but there was a chill in the air tonight, then we started watching Bad Neighbour but everyone dwindled away to bed and I didn't want to disturb everyone so I retreated to bed ...

... but after 2 miles spotted them another mile or more away on a bald knob. We decided not to pursue them, but enjoyed the views along the way. This is a lovely highland area that reminded us much of our home in West Virginia, and Dolly Sods Wilderness area, which is in our own backyard. Still, one never tires of such beauty, wherever it may be found!
After our hike we drove back to Marion, Virginia, and had a late lunch at a barbeque place there.

... brought them some treats) for the next week on the trail. They have some interesting gadgets, including a tiny gas stovetop. Footgear becomes very important and they have issues with drying as rain has been abundant this summer. Allison had a bite and rash on her leg but no pain or illness- so- they will continue on their way! They are still full of excitement and energy. What a bold endeavor! After breakfast we gave them a ride back to the AT.

Today was a great day. Breakfast at the Best Western was perfect, oatmeal, coffee and OJ, all for $2.50. Rt 522 from the hotel to Port Royal was a great 4 lane country road and didn't feel like a highway. Entered Sky Line Drive on the North side. Sky Line Drive/Shenandoah National Park was majestic.
