I am writing this post on my phone sitting in a bunk of a church hostel with no phone service, so this will be posted whenever I get service again. Church hostel you ask? That will be the topic of the next post. I had never been afraid of or chased by dogs before and I thought Bicycle Bill was being a bit melodramatic to be so concerned. Turns out he was right. I got chased 2 days ago, and then twice today, where the dog physically ran into the street ...

Nashville to Wytheville

A travel blog entry by jenny.cogbill on Aug 13, 2015

Yesterday was a driving day, we set off from Nashville and other than a stop for lunch when we stopped at a park and played football or frisbee we drove for most of the day and went to Virginia. The drive was very pretty, the countryside has started to look more and more like the UK, lots of trees, fields and rolling hills. It has also got much cooler which is great as well. The campsite last night was lovely, had a nice swim and a relax and made ...

The campsite was like a set of an American movie. This was the way I ...

A travel blog entry by jtsweeting on Jun 20, 2015

I set my alarm for 7:45 this morning but we had crossed another time zone and my iPad hadn't updated itself so I was nearly late. Luckily I was kind of awake at 8:15 when Nicole called in to see if I'd survived the downpour so I got up. At 8:30 we had to go to the office on our campsite and pay for our white water rafting trip then at 9am we jumped on a proper American school bus and headed up river. Our guide was called Dana and he ...

AJ and Allison will so 2100 miles- we did 2- well, 4 round trip! We drove from Mt. Rogers National Recreation area to Grayson Highlands State Park. We stopped at the visitors centers at both areas. At Grayson Highlands we parked at Massey Gap and walked a couple of miles in on the trail. Despite being called Rhododendren Trail, the trail was covered with lovely pink mountain laurel and bright orange honeysuckle bushes. We walked in to see the wild ...
