Historical Traveler Reviews Days Inn Maingate East Kissimmee
Good Quality Motel
Stayed here for two weeks, no problems at all, bedding & towels changed each day before 9AM, all linen clean and fresh. The room did smell a little musty but nothing a 99c air freshner cant sort out, the staff were friendly and helpful, th epool clean and accessible, good access to ise, drinks etc.
The TV worked but the cable a little dodgy in quality, hairdyer and safe in room. All in this is good for the money, for 35$ a night what more do people expect. I thought it was fine, and people shouldnt expect a five star hotel for 2 star prices!
Would not recommend this hotel!
We got a good deal on this motel, but it just wasn't worth it! They put us in the 'back woods', the pool was not heated and the room was dark and old. Damage to bathroom door, tiles etc. dirty and cracked. Would definitely not have stayed there if we had children with us. Only good thing is it was next to Olde Town. If you do stay here, make sure you request a room at the front of the complex as they looked nicer than the section at the back! Free shuttle direct to Disney and Seaworld a definite plus.
Don't stay at this hotel!!!
We stayed at this Days inn on April 3-6. We had stayed at this Days INN a couple of years before and it was fine but boy does time change things. First of all, it took us about 40 minutes to check in. No, they were not very busy at the time either. There were two people ahead of us in line. We waited in line for 10 minutes and it took another 30 minutes for the clerk to check us in. After we finally make it to our room, the cable does not work. They told us that maintenance would be up in 15 minutes. 20 minutes later, we call back down to ask when the maintenance guy would be up. We informed them that we did not want to wait in the hotel all day waiting on someone. Finally, after arguing with the front desk, someone came up. The rooms are old and outdated and the bathroom is very small. Also, the rails outside the rooms are very shaky. I would not lean up against them. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU CHECKOUT. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL IF YOU USE A CREDIT CARD. Upon check out they informed me that I owe them 20.95. This confused me since I paid the bill in full at the time I checked in. I didn't make any phone calls, so what else could the 20.95 be for? I asked for an explanation and could not get one. I was told that it could be tax. Who charges tax after you have paid in full. Anyway, I told them that I refuse to pay 20.95 extra for a charge that they could not explain.
After some continued arguing, the front desk clerk goes into the back and says that they will eliminate the 20.95 charge. After this, I asked for my $10 key deposit back which they only charge to cash paying customers. She informs me that I can't get the $10 back. Again, I am confused because when I checked in the front desk clerk said clearly that the $10 would be returned when i returned the keys. We argue again, she goes to the back and gives me my $10. She proceeds to have me sign a bill that says I now owe 30.95 (key deposit + other fake charge). I told her that I am not signing something that says I owe money when I do not. She said that it has been taken care of and I don't owe anything. I wasn't buying this because they had my credit card number and could charge the 30.95 at anytime. She told me that she could get me a bill that said balance due of 0 if I was willing to wait. I told her I was. She asked if we could wait like it would take 20 to 30 minutes. She came back with the new bill in less than 2 minutes, which leads me to believe that they were planning on charging the 30.95 to my charge card. I just wonder how many people they have gotten with this scam. Just beware. I know this hotel is cheaper than others but don't waste your time. Pay a little more money and say yourself the hassle. I know we will next time. You can e-mail me if you have questions.
A Great Hotel in a Great Location
I had a good time staying in this hotel. The location is very convienent, with a Denny's across the street, and Old Town next door.
We had an excellent experience at this Days Inn. We had some problems but they were not too bad. The light above the vanity burnt out and it took room service 45 minutes to change the light. There were curse words carved into the inside of the nightstand drawer. Also, I do not recommend eating breakfast in their restaurant, the food was so bad that I barely ate any of it. I would rather recommend to go to Shoney's, IHOP, or Denny's for breakfast. Other than that, a great value for a great room. Highly recommended!
A great deal if you can stand a bit of grunge...
We just returned from the days inn suites and have several comments. I was under the impression that the rides at old town were unlimited, and they are not. You have to endure talking with the lady hawking timeshares for a few minutes to get a ticket that you have to take to the timeshare store in oldtown and present your room key and id in order to get 5 tickets per person. That was ample for my family with young children but would not last the older kids long. The room itself was surprisingly large: living room, kitchen and bedroom. The beds were comfortable and clean, even the pillows were better than some. However the place has some issues with maintainance and an undeniable grunge factor. Water damage apparent, torn wall paper, unidenifiable gummy looking stuff on the plastic strip that is intended to protect the corners of the wallpapered walls. The kitchens do not come with ANY dishes, that is extra. We stayed in two different areas and I would reccommend the side that is away from old town if you like quiet.
Otherwise you can hear the oldies and the screams until late and will be awakened around 2 when the bars closed by loud patrons telling their tales of baroom encounters in the parking lot. If you have little kids the railing on the second floor could be deadly as they fit between them. On the positive side it did sleep well, beds were comfortable, kids could go to bed in separate bedroom and adults be awake in living room and kitchen. We got it for a very cheap rate and were so busy at the parks that we essentially only slept there. SO if you can stand the grunge and get on the side away from old town, I would say go for it.
You can walk to many resturaunts and shops at old town (avoid saturday night unless you are a fan of old cars, hot rods and lots of people).
Old town has a couple of rides for every level of bravery. The teacup ride was more fun than disneys!
Check Inn and right back OUT! This is digusting. Not a hotel...
Stay in the park
room was cleanand big.....but thats all the good I can say.
1.Transportation has 4 vans in the morning to Magic Kingdom. If they are full you lose.
2.dirty worn bedding.
3.Do not buy tickets there. They will try to talk you into a timeshare tour.
4.Outside railings on second floor were loose and unsafe.
5.resteraunt no longer owned by hotel.no special deals..
6.Shower drained REAL slow.water over your ankles.
7.Promised early check in.we sat with with 2 tired kids for 4 hours till we could check in.....at 4pm

It's a cheap but clean place to stay with no frills, in an excellent location.
This hotel is right next to the Old Town and convenient for Disney, Celebration, shops and restaurants on the 192. It's basic but clean and cheap - we usually only pay around $35 per night for a room in October!! There are no coffee making facilities (you can get a takeaway from the hotel restaurant) or iron and ironing board (this is reflected in the price) but you get 2 beds, hairdryer, TV and a bathroom with towels changed daily. There is a restaurant serving buffet breakfast in the hotel or other places nearby. It does tend to be busy on a Saturday night when they have the Old Town car cruise, but we've never had a problem booking in October, and there are always loungers available by the pool. We always recommend this hotel to friends and they've agreed with our comments. We have stayed here every time we've been to Orlando and will be booking in again next year.
Good Value for the money
We have stayed there on 2 seperate occasions 2001/2002 we have stayed for 10 days both times and we have had 2 positive experiences. The suites were clean, the staff was friendly and very helpful and the price and location can't be beat. We have already booked our next visit with Day's Suites for this year. Looking forward to it.
Another plus is having Old Town (a family style amusement park) right next door to the hotel. It is a wonderful place take a evenign stroll and visit the shops and watch all the families enjoying themselves all the while feeling very safe. The best part of Old Town is that it's free admission/parking!
