... to Mt. Sterling, IL. I was really hoping we'd encounter a Starbucks or a Dunkin' Donuts in the very least, but it wasn't meant to be....an hour and fifteen minutes of cornfields later, we arrived in Mt. Sterling, population 1900, and settled into a McDonald's for their wi-fi. We're staying at the fairgrounds tonight and if they'll let us, we're going to stay there the whole weekend too.
Driving into Bushnell was wildly nostalgic for us...we used to drive here every summer for a music festival that John's old band played. The festival was a week long, on a pig farm out of town, and brought in thousands upon thousands of people. My last festival was in 2004, John's was 2005, and the festival folded just a year or two ago after a long run.

The Good highlights of the day were a) visiting Ulysses S Grant's home in Galena ILand touring the very beautiful town and b) having some one stop to see if I was OK when I was stopped to take a picture of the Welcome to Illinois sign.
