Days Inn Kent - Meeker St.

Just gearing up to go! Ryan McNamee is picking us up this morning to bring us to the airport. Amanda's flight leaves 2 hours before mine, so I get a good 4 hours of waiting in the airport today. I'm going to spend the time getting some trinkets and gifts to give our couch surfing hosts, as well as watching Top Gear on my ipod. Next entry will be in Europe! Here we come!

... chst nicht mehr so lange Texte, aber hier auf dem Flug hab ich viiiel Zeit. Noch 2400 von 7700 Km bis Seattlle, es sind -61°C draussen und der Blick auf die kanadische Wildniss ist herrlich. Haben abends auf der Fähre nach Vashon Island wo unsere noch Kathy Sider kennengelernt, die uns mit ihrem mann gleich zum essen eingeladen haben und uns noch Karten geschenkt haben. Alles in allem sind die leute hier super nett.

our goodbye party saturday june 28 was a smashing success. thank you all for coming, seeing us off and wishing us well. we are on our way to the airport now and im sure we will miss you all... well at least some of you anyways... follow along in our travels and drop us a note :) hope you all have a wonderful summer!! ~kirstin and shane

We got out of Champoeg State park around 10:30 with the intent of getting to Kent Washington. The weather was not good with lots of rain. We decided to take a slight detour and we bypassed Portland by using Highway 205. This was much nicer and not as busy as the I-5. Actually the less I have to drive that highway the better. ... family has been providing has really helped Sheryl and Alex as they adjust.  They are eternally grateful. Sweet cards and packages have been arriving in the mail - helping them to celebrate and enjoy this most gracious blessing - their son Kai. That is update # 3. We'll keep them coming. Eventually Alex and Sheryl will use their travelpod blog as a place for photos and updates -but not now. They have healing, resting, pumping, and eating on their minds. Much love to you all! No placebo, we will know soon if he gets it or not. -We got the results from the Chemo sensitivity testing and they recommended Cisplatin (woohoo same as the UW docs recommendation so we are going into this with a lot more confidence and are not in the uncomfortable position of deciding what to do with conflicting treatment plans. ... folks. It engaged my intellect, my creative self and my people skills every day. worked 15-17 hour days, which I loved as well for a limited time. Yesterday I was done, slept, picnicked with martha and abbey, slept and went out to Ray's with Niamh for wine, sunset and great conversation. life is amazing. What next? have to figure that out...want to keep working, being pushed intellectually. I loved Q's line about why she preferred Mostly Martha to No Reservations...the people ...

... but still a bit in your face! It was fun! I've treked around the city by myself quite a bit too and Kayleigh's brother, Cody, taught me how to play football (gridiron) on the Xbox - I thought I was really good at first but I'm pretty sure he was just giving me a chance because he kicks my butt all the time now! I found this cool little internet coffee shop, cafe place and I train back to Portland tomorrow!
