    Great Location, but...

First impressions were not very good, the room we were given was in the "Basement" and was smelly with a wet musty smell, My Wife gets asthma and this did not agree with her. I approached the Reception and requested a different room. The second room was still in the basement, but at least it was clean and didn't smell. Internet is a bit of hit and miss, and they only give internet access for 1 Item per room. Close to the Forbidden City, Tienanmen square and also the shopping district. It is situated in the Hutongs District next to the Forbidden City Park. I would come here again because the location is so good, however I would make sure I had a room Upstairs. It was very quite and we couldn't hear any street noise, maybe because we were in the Basement?

Really good hotel for the price (we booked through expedia). Very helpful hotel staff, excellent English. Michelle on the ticket booking desk was especially helpful. Would stay here again.

    STAFF- RUDE. HOTEL- OK

The staff is rudeee!! They have little concept of customer service. You just come plane journey and a long bus ride you wanna be greeted with some respect and a smile. Now they did smile and laugh but AT US. Now what was funny we didn't know, but clearly they were having a chuckle on our expense for some reason. Now I think it could have been due to the fact I didn't understand her accent when she was asking for my passport. After the 4th time and saying it in a MOCKING childish voice I understood. She was talking to me, an English teacher, like I was 5, I felt like getting her head and banging it against the glass table!! They were sooo rudeee!! Not a good start AT ALL!!!

The hotel in general is in a good location, 2 min walk from T square, local food vendors and Malls. The facilities in the hotel were good too as was the room in general, however, it did have a weird kind of smell through it. I would recommend this hotel if you want it for the location but if you're anything like me and like good customer service then NO!!

Service was great , restaurant was a bonus and the bed was reasonably comfortable. I would highly recommend this accomodation due to its 2 min walk location to Tian emen Square and the Palace. Really great bus transport available at the end of the road.

    Last Day in Beijing

Today is our last day and we are both struggling to get moving. We have nothing planned so it doesn't matter. We walk up a lane that we haven't been when yet another art student approaches us and wants us to see his work. Geoff decides he would like to look, some of it wasn't bad. We end up getting a painting. I'm starting to think that we need …

Today was a slower paced day. We got up late, we even tidied up the room before we went out. We thought that we would send a few things back home as weight in our cases is going to be an issue. We are only allowed 20kg in each day, that isn't the issue as we can only have 1 case between us as the car that will take us to the airport can only take …

Today we went to the Hutong area, this is an older area, mostly full of what our guide called common people. To me it looks like a poorer area but our guide was saying that it cost $100,000 US per square foot to build. Most of the homes have been handed down. They are small, there whole house would fit in our lounge room. While there is a sleeping …

Today was another hot and humid day. We left the hotel just after 7:30, unsure what we would see but we headed in the direction that we wanted to go. We came across a nice park, where people were doing all the things that you would expect in a park including playing badminton. We walked through the park as it was a short cut in our direction, then …

What an incredible day!!!! We were picked up at our hotel just after 7, so another early start. There was only 6 of us, on this tour. It was about an hours drive to the Great wall. We were given a choice of the most popular spot on the wall or one not used so much by the tourist. We chose the one not so popular, Hmm… are they kidding, there …
