... areas were where the actual battles took place and you can walk and drive around and see the plaques marking the locations of infantry, cavalry, artillery and the battles that they fought. It happened to be Veterans Day when we visited the parks, a timely reminder of all those who gave up their lives in battles around the world.

We couldn't miss the Chattanooga Choo Choo so we went and climbed on board. The area is now a hotel with several ...
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States bekandjesseWe have arrived in Chattanooga and found ourselves a bargain basement priced little wooden cabin to keep us out of the rain and in the warmth, yay! This is just a short entry. This week we will be staying here in Chattanooga checking out the surrounds and making a few day trips to neighbouring states.

We will keep you updated. Lots of Love, the warm, Bek and Jesse Train
I never had seen a flintlock before and I’m amazed at the size of the flint. After the flint they moved to a cap system and eventually to a percussion primer system. The other major advances included going from smoothbore to rifling and also the bolt action. We did see one gun with a bolt action that was much earlier than major ...
Chickamauga, Georgia, United States psubrat93... for a touring bike - a lot of ruts and unstable due to gravel. It was a sunny day and the view was spectacular. Dan & Darla had visited the overlook a month earlier and it was an overcast day. This day was clear and the visibility was immense.

We left the overlook and when we reached the end of the gravel road we turned right and turned ...
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Tennessee, United States mrpatrickJamie, Zach, and I can now say that we have done what all the barns and bird houses across the southeast has been requesting people to do: See Rock City. Rock City is a Labrinth of rock formations on the highest peak in Tennessee. From one spot we could Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Zach enjoyed looking at the rocks that loomed overhead and the massive waterfall.
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States hillaryjoseph... It was too dark to get any good photos of the city. I will try harder tomorrow. I intended to stop at New Echota but it was closed. New Echota is/was the capital of the Cherokee Nation and is locaten in Calhoun, Georgia. It is easy to access from I-75. The only photo is of me resting in the hotel room.
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States leonardgrill... So good night everyone (actually good morning as the continent now basks in its 6 month summer) and if you should decide to visit, please pack a big parka, your woolen mittens, and remember to never feed the penguins. In non-controversial, not-so-fake news, I recently served as best man at my friend's wedding. This was an event for the ages, and truly in the small community he lives in, and with the tight knit never-changing group of church goers he communes with, it was ...
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States danielwolfeLast year was a rotten year. Financially everything went kaput. A love affair went bad. Plans I'd made fell through. And even though inside my head I think I'm the same, I must be getting older. The other day I had to call maintenance to come change a light bulb. I climbed up on the stool but couldn't keep my balance well enough to unscrew the glass globe above my head. I had to do something. Can't keep sitting and stewing. It was spring, Easter was approaching, and a tune my ...

Watch for Debi D's Rhapsody & Blues and Microwave Dave & the Nukes during February. If you like to play cards, see if you can beat Mad Max at "pretend" blackjack. Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States burtonll... In Smithville every July, people come together to hone the craft of fiddle playing at one of the top 100 tourism events in North America, the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree. The National Championship Country Musician Beginners category of the event was designed to preserve the country music tradition by encouraging young people to compete. Perhaps the natural beauty of this area increases the "appreciation" factor of anyone who lives ...
