... on the river. The last few pictures are views from my hotel. It was nice to be done for the night a little earlier than normal. I even got to watch the sunset on the Mississippi from my hotel. Once I finish the blog I'm headed out for dinner. Gulf shrimp will most likely be on the menu!

... rectangular in shape, you walk in and the bar is on your right. Behind the bar is a chest freezer where Red rummages for whatever bottles of beer he can find at $3 a pop. Chairs of indifferent quality, assembly chairs in a 1970s comp basically, are arranged around a space where a band play. ... they PARTY. The beer and wine and bourbon and stories and jokes and good-natured insults flowed freely all evening, and the laughing never stopped, and I had a fantastic time. Next day as Rebecca and I were driving south to Natchez, we listened to a CD Howard gave us of Jessica, Eden, and their sister Bronwyn singing songs written by their mother, the late Carol Brent, herself a terrific singer and songwriter, and I appreciated even more what a talented family I’ve married into.
