More in hope than anticipation ...

A travel blog entry by jmcefalas on Nov 10, 2014

Thanks to the lovely @plaingoldband wending her way through America I was inspired to start this blog. The title is apposite. I love home, I love the sun streaming through the east window in the morning, I love the birds flitting across the window from hedgerow to hedgerow unconcerned by my presence. I love having the radio burbling in the background and being safe, secure and settled. But I have itchy feet. They have had a few random ...

Cardiff Day 2 (or Day of the Doctor)

... the part....just indulge me). The interactive experience was bizarre but a a very huge lot of fun. Basically a group of visitors help the 12th Doctor defeat some aliens, with sound effects, Daleks and the Doc talking to to group and giving instructions. Great for kids, but I enjoyed it too. ... to tell you to go. We pass SS Great Britain twice before we finally get spat out of the city centre. But it's worth it because The Battleaxes in Wraxall, North Somerset is a bit of a find. Half gastropub, half B&B it's heaving at 8pm and it's hard getting parked and it's another hour before we're settled in and they have space to serve us. Still, I think we've done well considering we only a few hours ago we didn't even know if this trip was going to come off. ...

Birthday at Fraser Island

... if somebody had told me I would be staying in a tent for my birthday I would have told them to jog on. But I was open to the idea so I kept my opinion to myself because there could have been a chance I would have loved it (small, but still a possibility!) We arrived at camp, it was basically on the beach, not much more than a whole in the floor for a toilet, next to no shower facilities and a couple of tents. Before we could even think about getting settled in for the ...
