... or touch them they will bite! Fortunately I haven’t seen this happen to anyone. Oh and there’s a giant compass on the roof of the observatory and it tells you how far away other places are in the world. I’m more than 13000kms from home! London is closer. Probably anywhere is closer.

I miss home lots! It’s hard being by myself, and while I’m having a good time travelling and seeing lots of the country, I’m really looking forward to getting to ...

Riding the road to Calgary by Greyhound

... had a very pleasant meal together on my arrival and I was introduced to the rest of the family living at home.

It was decided that as I did not have much time in Calgary we should take advantage of the girls being free the next day and take a trip south to Crowsnest Pass and area. The route took us through Bragg Creek an interesting little place and on through rolling green farmland to Longview where we had a ...

Madrid Arrival

My long 10 hours flight from Calgary via New York city to Madrid was smooth. Got to Madrid around 11:35am. HiTech hotel had a shuttle at the T1 terminal of the airport. Thank God! With my back pack and my bike, it would have been impossible to hop on to the train during that time. The hotel was in Las Tablas where it is very NE corner of Madrid. Almost outside of the city. Las Tablas area is very green and clean. A lot nicer than the ...

Twisting and turning, in a space that's too small

... women! The plane to Dallas had a strange configuration - there was an exit going directly out of the back of the plane. Weird ... it was a relatively quick flight, and I was surprised that nobody clapped at the smooth landing. I´ve been on several flights where the pilot landed so hard that the top of your brain practically smacked the inside of your skull, and people would clap as if they just saw an Oscar-worthy movie. But give them a ...

... heat of the volcano and to see how it produces more land with such rich soil. That was pretty much the end of our trip. We spent some time looking at old churches in Antigua and doing some last minute shopping. We were definitely all ready to come home. Guatemala was a bit of a paradox for me. In some ways it was so easy to travel but in other ways the tourist infrastructure still requires some development in order to fully communicate important ...

Alberta Canada

We arrived safely to Calgary, Alberta,Canada...rented a little car and started another journey. After searching for a hotel, we ate Vietnamese food, and then went back to the hotel so we could get some sleep...after traveling for 15 hours, it was time to get some shut eye. Before we went to bed, we discussed what to do...go East, West or South??? After a less than peaceful sleep...the long day and the foreign bed must have done it, as both of us ...

... and set the priority to "high" to download a map, and even then it crashes around 80% of the time, which is frustrating because I'm sending the map at 9600 baud - again, with 1986 technology - so it takes a couple of hours. So anyways, I'm mostly just trying the blog software out, while ranting about trip prep and putting off the things I should be doing, like washing my bathroom floor. Maybe I should go do that now.

The drive - Vancouver to Calgary

... jam, that we had assumed was road works turned out to be a rock fall, just another little hazard along the way! Fortunately we didn't need to "chain up" - one reason we wanted to cross the mountains before the weather breaks. With each day Malc became more relaxed and comfortable. Bree behaved impeccably even when the going was tough. Toad didn't put a wheel out of line either! Perfect weather, quiet roads and oh those ...
